My single most important commitment during this term as your local Councillor has been making sure I am easily accessible to you at all times. That is why I continually and publically give out my direct mobile number and I have conducted over 200 mobile offices. These mobile offices haven’t been hidden inside some council facility and haven’t just popped up during election time, they have been out in your community. This has ensured I have remained connected with this community and its needs. Also, I have initiated a large number of action requests on-the-spot for residents dropping in for a chat, and communicated important information.

I write to strongly endorse my support toward Councillor Adrian Raedel, of Moreton Bay Regional Council, for his ongoing support to the Stanley River Junior Rugby League Football Club.

Adrian has been a terrific Councillor of the Woodford community with many organizations recognizing the hands on leadership skills he brings to the role and making Woodford a great place to live. In the 2011 floods Adrian went far and beyond any expectations in support of this community, he earned the respect of so many during that time. He is a great Councillor with good skills to serve our community.

I have worked with Adrian in my role as

President of the Elimbah Sports and Recreation

Committee. Adrian has provided friendly and

timely support in our dealings with Moreton Bay Regional Council to

ensure that our local community needs are being represented. He

has a good working knowledge of Council procedures, has attended

our meetings regularly and responds quickly to requests for

assistance or information. I have been impressed with Adrian’s work

as our Division 12 Councillor as he has worked with us in upgrading

sport and recreation facilities in Elimbah.

The Burpengary Equestrian Centre (BEC) really appreciates the assistance provided by Adrian Raedel. A special thank you for assisting with the flood recovery and the removal of fruit bearing trees, this has benefitted the centre enormously. Adrian’s attendance at various club functions and meetings has played a vital role in helping over 500 members enjoy the horse sports they love.

Dear Fellow Residents, The last four years has been exciting, challenging, humbling and rewarding as your local Councillor. On the 28th of April, 2012, the local Council elections will be held. I wish to continue “serving you as your local Councillor”. In the next four years my priorities are set around roads, the local economy and independently fighting for the best outcomes for Division 12. With all this in mind, Division 12 is in the process of receiving a record $18.5million for local Council roads. This excludes State and Federal roads. On one occasion, I also tabled a successful petition to fix Homestead road, Morayfield. Much of the road rebuilding and upgrading around Division 12 is already underway with a big emphasis on planning to get it right for the long range future. Having good roads is a good investment that brings many returns to the community in ways such as safety, less wear-and-tear on your vehicle and making this a place people are proud to call theirs. Another great investment has been the first Moreton Bay Hinterland Visitor Information Centre (MBHVIC). To get the MBHVIC project off the ground, I lent my sticker van (yes, I was a sign writer before becoming a Councillor) which is set up on the D’Aguilar Highway, Woodford. These humble beginnings for the MBHVIC has taken the experts by surprise due to the high number of inquires it consistently deals with. A flow on benefit of having a working information centre is the injection into the local economy. However, I want to take this a lot further with a Council ‘local buy’ policy. This is a policy I am taking into my next term. Moreton Bay Regional Council would be required to ‘weight’ its consideration of each purchase with a local element. A similar policy is in use by other Councils giving local businesses a better opportunity to become suppliers to the biggest purchaser in the region.

Over the coming weeks I will share more of my vision for Division 12 with you.

Cheers,

A
