Used widescreen preset to create this file so that I can make the text the right size when its placed into after effects. Get an exact idea of how big its going to be when placed. Don’t want to e nlarge text / images in photoshop because they will pixelate.

cmd I - Import filecmd K - Composition settings

When you import something as footage- piece of video / image etc will occupy one layer in your composition, a dialogue box will always ask you how you want to import it again. When importing you are creating a link not actually putting the file in so make sure you keep everything organised in one folder, the same as in InDesign.

You can drag a drop the file from the links menu to the timeline- This will automatically be centred in the composition frame- If you drag a drop into the composition

Import as composition- Allows you to carry on editing these layers in After Effects

- Can animate each layer individually

- Need to add each segment as a new layer to maintain layer compatibility

Need a position frame on each layer so they remain on the layers they are on,

Select all layersP - Will show positions of all your layersBecause all the layers are selected, if you activate key framing on one layer, it will activate the key framing for position properties on all layers - will give you a start key frame on all the layers are the same time.

Import Options

When you want the letters to keep their own anchor points rather than the whole words anchor point you insert them using - Composition / Retain layer sizes

Setting up documents in Illustrator for After Effects

Use the video & Film setting then set up to match your After Effects file

Motion Blur- Three circles icon- Switch on the top of the timeline to en-able motion blur for the entire clip

It is possible to use to collect files feature to keep all your files organised and in the same place

- After Effects will make a new folder (same name as project)

- Puts a copy of After Effects project

- Makes a folder called footage which contains everything you have used in the project
