PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Explore China is initiated to make the world

understand China better through bridging the west andeast. Foreign volunteer will participate in a series of Chineseculture to have a wider engagement and interaction with localChinese local Chinese people. Gaining comprehensiveexperiences of Chinese culture, the foreign volunteers willutilize the social media to spread what they have witnessedand learnt about China. The long term vision for the project isto establish a new platform between university studentsacross the world to promote Chinese intangible cultureheritage and raise the awareness of Chinese traditionalinheritance.

Explore China started in 2010. From 2013-2014, there aremore than 130 foreign volunteers and 650 Chinesevolunteer involved in Explore China project. We went to 10more provinces to explore the local Chinese cultures andcooperated with more than 195 cultural institutions.As one of the most impactful cross-culturalexperience project,Explore China get more than 78 mediaexposures.

TIMELINE OF PROJECTWeek 1: (1.11~1.17)Activities in Week One focus on helping you adjust to new environmentand experience Chinese KongFu. We will hold an welcome party to helpto be acquainted with local culture, And also, we will begin the travelof exploring Chinese minority culture.

Week 2: (1.18~1.24)One week for exploring Chinese minority culture is not enough, thisweek we will continue to explore it. And then, we will fly to ChengDuto explore another kind of Chinese culture.And during this week weare going to prepare for the Globle village and Youth round-tablemeeting.

Week 3: (1.25~1.31)This week we will hold two Globle Villages in two primary schools andtwo Youth round-table meetings in two high schools in order topromote students’ understanding of the culture in differentcountries.You will be a member to discuss with the high schoolstudents.

Week 4: (2.1~2.7)Feb.8th is Spring Festival which is the most important festival inChina. All of us will get together with our family to celebrate it.During this week you will be with your homestay to deeply experienceChinese traditional culture.

Week 5:(2.8~2.14)We will have a in the square with citizens in order to spreaddifferent kind of culture and enjoy the Chinese New Year atmosphere.Products selling will be arranged at the ending of this project inSunday.

AccommodationVisa Information:(1)We highly suggest you could apply for F visa for morethan 6 weeks. If you cannot get F visa, you could applyfor any other kind of visa as long as you make sure youcould stay in China legally during whole project time.AIESEC JLU has no responsibility to help extend visa.(2)You also need to go to police station to getregistration when come to China.

Transportation&Accommodation:(1)Trainees have to pay their own transportation.(2)We provide homestays as free accommodation ifAIESEC could find for trainees, if not, trainees have topay for accommodation by themselves to live in the hotelor rent an apartment($5~$8 a day). We can ensure thattrainees have access to Internet and have personalspace to work and live.(3)Lunch is provided by TN taker or by yourself($2~$3per meal). Breakfast and supper will be provided byChinese homestay if AIESEC could find for trainees. Ifnot, trainees have to pay their own food.

Health certification&Insurance(1)Trainees should provide health certification whenarriving Changchun, or trainees have to go to localhospital to get a physical examination and pay for it bytrainees themselves.(2)Trainees should buy insurance by themselves beforethey come to our project. AIESEC JLU has noresponsibility to buy insurance for trainee.

NORTHEASTERN CULTURE

Manchu:The Manchu is a old

nation in China . it’s

history can date back to7000 years .It hasmany names ,such asmojie,nvzhen. It hasbuilded twodynasties,the jin dynasty and the qing dynasty.

North China tiger:The largest andmost powerfulsubspecies ofnaturally occurringfeline. It is notvery difficult tobreed in captivity,but the possibilityto release captive bred specimens into the wild is small.

SICHUAN CULTURE

Sichuanese opera:It is a type of Chineseopera originating in China’sSichuan province around1700.Today Sichuanoperais a relatively recentsynthesis of 5 historicmelodic styles.RegionallyChengdu remains to be the main home of Sichuaneseopera.

Panda:The giant panda, ablack-and-whitebear, has a bodytypical of bears.Many people findthese chunky,lumbering animalsto be cute, butgiant pandas can beas dangerous as any other bear.

SPRING FESTIVALChinese Spring Festival, also called Lunar New Year, has morethan 4,000 years of history. Being one of the traditionalChinese festivals, it is the grandest and the most importantfestival for Chinese people.It is also the time for the whole families to get together,which is similar with Christmas Day to the westerners.

Originating during the Shang Dynasty (about 17th - 11thcentury BC), Spring Festival, which celebrates family reunion,is full of rich and colorful activities, and hopes with theadvent of spring and flowers blossoming. People fromdifferent regions and different ethnic groups celebrate it intheir unique ways.

CHINESE FOODChinese cuisine originated from the various regions ofChina Regional cultural differences vary greatly amongthe different regions of China, giving rise to thedifferent styles of food. There are eight main regionalcuisines, or Eight Great Traditions: Anhui, Cantonese,Fujian, Hunan, Jiangsu, Shandong, Sichuan, and Zhejiang.Among them, Cantonese, Sichuan, Shandong, andHuaiyang cuisine are often considered as the standoutsof Chinese cuisine and due to their influence areproclaimed as the Four Great Traditions
