2. APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Pay the application fee to the specified account number between the application

dates.

The Application Form and receipt for payment of the application fee must be

delivered personally or by mail.

Your application can be made using results from one of the examinations

specified in Table 1.

The application process can continue using either your Akdeniz University International Student Admission Examination result, or with the results of one

of the examinations specified in Table-1, and in accordance with the quotas specified in Tables 2, 3 and 4.

2. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

All applications will be accepted and evaluated on condition that the applicant has

either completed or is in the final year of their secondary education, and fulfils the

following conditions;

1) Is a Foreign Student,

2) Is a Turkish citizen by birth who was granted permission by the Turkish

Ministry of Internal Affairs to give up their Turkish citizenship, or is a child of

such a person who is below the age of 18, and who is registered on his or her

parent’s renunciation of citizenship document, providing they have in their

possession documentary evidence of their rights under the terms of Law No. 5901,

3) Is a Foreign Student who has been granted Turkish citizenship,

4) Is a Turkish citizen who has completed his or her secondary education in a

foreign country with the exception of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

(TRNC) (this includes Turkish Schools in all foreign countries except the TRNC),

5) Is a TRNC citizen living in the TRNC who has completed his or her secondary

education in the TRNC and has successfully completed the GCE AL examination,

or has successfully completed the GCE AL examination while registered and

receiving education in a college or high school in another country between 2005

and 2010.

Applications will not be accepted from any applicant to whom the following

conditions apply; 1) Is a Turkish citizen who has completed his or her secondary education in

Turkey, or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC),

2) Is a TNRC citizen, unless he or she has completed their secondary education in

the TNRC and has successfully completed the GCE AL examination, or has

successfully completed the GCE AL examination while registered and receiving

education in a college or high school in another country between 2005 and 2010.

3) Has dual citizenship with a natural right to Turkish citizenship, unless he or she

has completed his or her secondary education in a foreign country, including

Turkish Schools in that country, with the exception of the TNRC.

4) Has dual citizenship where one of the citizenships is for the TNRC, except

persons who have successfully completed the GCE AL examination, or have

successfully completed the GCE AL examination while registered and receiving

education in a college or high school in another country between 2005 and 2010.

5) Is a Turkish citizen and has attended a foreign high school or a foreign

embassy school in Turkey.

3. AKDENIZ UNIVERSIY INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADMISSION

EXAMINATION

a. Exam Contents:

The Akdeniz University International Student Admission Examination includes

questions on Basic Learning Skills in the Turkish and English languages, a Basic

Learning Skills Test consisting of questions which aim to measure the strength of the

candidate’s abstract thinking, as well as sections on mathematics and geometry. The examination is of the "Multiple choice" type.

Akdeniz University International Students Admission Examination results are valid

for two years from the date on which the examination is taken.

b. Documents Required for Applications:

P.S: Examination fees received from applicants for a particular year cannot be

transferred to subsequent years. Applications will be regarded as invalid and will not

be accepted under the following conditions; applicants who do not attend the

examination even though they have paid the application fee, applicants whose

application is invalid in any way, applicants who were unable to attend the

examination for any reason, applicants who were excluded from the examination for

any reason, applicants who failed the examination or whose examination paper was

considered to be invalid, and applicants who did not pay their application fee.

c. Application Address:

Akdeniz Universitesi Rektorlugu Ek Hizmet Binası, Ogrenci Isleri Daire Baskanligi,

Dumlupinar Bulvari, Kampus, 07058/ANTALYA

Applications can be submitted to the Student Affairs Directorate between the

published dates either in person or by mail. Documents required for the application

must be submitted within the specified dates (May 27 - June 07, 2013). Applications

made on the internet cannot be accepted.

The date of submission of documents to the University will be registered as the date

on which the application was made. Applications for which the required documents

are not received within the application period cannot be taken into consideration.

d. Examination Entrance Cards:

Examination Entrance Cards will be delivered to candidates by the Students Affairs

Directorate as a result of the examination application. Candidates who have submitted

their application form by mail can collect their Examination Entrance Cards from the

Students Affairs Directorate before taking the examination.

e. Announcement of the list of candidates who are eligible to take the Akdeniz

University International Students Admission Examination:

The list of candidates who are eligible to take the Akdeniz University

International Students Admission Examination will be published on the

Akdeniz University website (www.akdeniz.edu.tr) and the Students Affairs

Directorate website (http://oidb.akdeniz.edu.tr/yabanci-uyruklu-ogrenciler)

on June 10, 2013.

No notification will be sent to candidates who are eligible to take the

examination.

Examination locations and candidate numbers will be announced with the list

of candidates who are eligible to take the Examination.

f. Documents which candidates must bring to the examination:

1. Examination Entrance Card

2. Identity Card or Passport (The Identity Card must include an identification

number and a photograph, and the passport must be current and valid).

Identity cards without identification numbers and or photographs, and expired

passports will not be accepted.

Please Note: Candidates must bring these documents to the examination

venues. They will not be admitted to the examination without them.

g. Announcement of Examination Results:

The examination results will be announced on the Akdeniz University website

(www.akdeniz.edu.tr) and the Students Affairs Directorate website.

Documentary evidence of results will not be sent to candidates, but can be

4. APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Application Dates: July 08-19, 2013

a. Who Can Apply?

Applications can be made by candidates who have achieved satisfactory results in one

of the examinations specified in Table 1, or in the Akdeniz University International

Students Admission Examination.

b. Documents Required for Applications:

1. The Application form, which will be available on the Student Affairs Directorate

website. (http://oidb.akdeniz.edu.tr/yabanci-uyruklu-ogrenciler)

2. Certified copies of the following documents from the Turkish Embassy or the

Turkish Consulate;

High School Diploma and Equivalency Certificate,

Original and copy (translated into Turkish) of the Certificate of Transcript,

Examination results

3. Notarized copies of passports and translations,

4. A bank receipt proving that the application fee has been paid,

5. 3 photographs taken during the last six months. The photographs should be

passport photo size,

6. Envelope on which candidate’s recipient address is written and postage stamp

affixed,

7. A document which proves the student has sufficient funds to cover the costs of

studying abroad. (A sample document will be published on the webpage of the

Student Affairs Directorate; http://oidb.akdeniz.edu.tr/yabanci-uyruklu-ogrenciler)

c. How to Apply:

All applicants should carefully fill in the application form. Applicants can

obtain a copy of the application form from the following webpage.


The Application Form "Referenced Programmes" section must be completed in

accordance with the quotas shown in Table 2, Table 3 and Table 4

Candidates can apply for as many programmes as they wish. However, only 3

applications can be made with each application form. Candidates who want to

apply for more than 3 programmes should fill in an additional application

form. Candidates must pay the application fee, as determined by Administrative

Board of the University, for each programme for which they have applied.

Applications can be submitted to the Student Affairs Directorate either in

person or by mail. Documents required for the application must be submitted

within the specified dates, (July 08 - 19, 2013). Applications made on the

internet cannot be accepted.




The date of submission of documents to the University will be registered as the

date on which the application was made. Applications for which the required

documents are not received within the application period cannot be taken into

consideration.

d. Evaluation of Applications and Announcement of Results

Applications will be evaluated between July 24 - 31, 2013 by the International

Student Admission Commission, which will meet under the chairmanship of

the Dean of the relevant Faculty and will include at least one lecturer from the

relevant academic department.

The results of all applications will be announced on the Akdeniz University

website; (www.akdeniz.edu.tr) on August 02, 2013.

Students who have been successful in their applications will be sent a letter of

acceptance from the relevant unit. They can use this acceptance letter to obtain

their education visa.

5. REGISTRATION

Registration Dates: September 02-06, 2013

Documents Required for Registration:

1. Notarized copy of Tuition Visa

2. Copy of the residence certificate, the original of which must be submitted

to the local police department

3. 6 passport size photographs taken in the last six months (4.5x6 cm)

4. Health insurance certificate: in accordance with Article 60 of Law No.

5510, private health insurance is obligatory.

Candidates who are eligible to study can register by presenting the above-

mentioned documents to the department in which the candidate will enrol on

September 02-06, 2013.

The remaining quota will be announced on the Akdeniz University website. When

taking the places of main candidates who do not register, reserve candidates who

are selected from the reserve student list are required to register on September 09-

11, 2013. Candidates who are eligible to study at Akdeniz University are responsible for

paying the tuition fees as determined by the Administrative Board of the

University pursuant to the decree of the Council of Ministers. Students who have completed the final registration process are subject to the

Akdeniz University Regulation for Associate and Bachelor’s Degree Programmes

and Examinations, as well as directives issued by the relevant unit, and all

decisions taken by the Senate related to education. They are also required to enrol

on a semester course upon registration.

6. TURKISH PROFICIENCY EXAMINATION

Examination Date: 12 September 2013


Candidates who have been accepted for enrolment at Akdeniz University, with the

exception of those who have completed their secondary education in Turkey, are

required to take the Turkish Proficiency Examination on September 12, 2013.

This examination is prepared by the Akdeniz University Turkish Language

Department.

Turkish Proficiency Examination results will be announced on September 13,

2013. The results of the Turkish Proficiency Examination will be graded as Pass

or Fail. Successful applicants may commence their courses. Those who are

unsuccessful in the Turkish Proficiency Examination, after registration, will be

given a one year deferment in order to improve their Turkish. Those who are

successful in the examination administered by Akdeniz University at the

beginning of the next academic year will be allowed to start their education. Those

who are unsuccessful will have their applications rejected.

7. FOREIGN LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

For students who apply to departments or programmes with English, German or

Arabic language as the medium of instruction, or who apply to departments or

programmes with compulsory foreign language preparatory classes;

1. Students who come within the terms of Article 6 of the Akdeniz University

Foreign Language Teaching and Examinations Directive regarding

equivalent examinations, will not be required to take the proficiency test,

and may register for the first year of their course.

2. Students who have achieved a pass grade in the Foreign Language

Proficiency Examination held by the Akdeniz University School of

Foreign Languages may register for the first year of their course.

Students who do not fulfil the conditions described in paragraphs 1 and 2 of this

article will be required to take a one-year course in the English Preparatory

Programme of the School of Foreign Languages,

Higher education institutions which admit foreign students in the 2013/2014 academic year and their quotas are listed in the tables in the Appendix. Foreign students are required to apply according to those quotas. Detailed information about application dates and tuition fees can be obtained from the relevant higher education institutions. See 4. A one-year Foreign Language Preparatory Programme is offered to students who wish to attend a

Foreign Language course within the available quota. The duration of the preparatory program is not included in the total number of years of study required for graduation as listed in the columns which define the period of education.

Students who are successful in the English Language Exemption Test can begin the first year of their programme directly.

See 36. In this programme, bilingual education is offered in English and German. Students must take the exemption test in English and German. Students who pass both examinations can begin their undergraduate education directly. Students who fail one of the exemption tests will be required to attend a one-year preparatory course for German or English. Students who pass neither the English nor the German exemption test will be required to attend a two-year preparatory course, one year for English and one year for German. Students who begin their undergraduate education are offered a four-year bilingual programme, and they will be awarded a bilingual diploma in the field of Translation and Interpretation.

See 51. Students of this programme are required to take the Proficiency Test in both English and German. Those who are successful in both tests may start their programmes directly. Those who are not successful are required to take preparatory courses, a one-year course for English and a one-year course for German, making two altogether. Students who are successful at the end of the preparatory course, and those who are successful in the exemption test held by the university will begin the first year of their four-year undergraduate programme. Unsuccessful students will be required to repeat the French Language Preparatory Course.
