That meant that we often relied on our GPS for guidance in arriving at a particular destination. A GPS is a wonderful tool, one I love and increasingly appreciate in my attempts to find hospitals, churches, or other unfamiliar addresses. However, a GPS has limitations. It can only get you where you tell it to go. We found this out Sunday morning. Regina was inputting the address for something like East Star St. W. Yeah, that’s a crazy address – how exactly do you mix East and West in one street name? But this particular municipality had done so and the GPS was confused. It wanted to take us either to 107 Star Street or to 107 West Star Street. We chose the one that said “West” and soon arrived at the wrong spot. If you’re shooting for the wrong destination you’ll never wind up at your intended goal. Set the right goal and you’re on the right path. Consider that in light of the Bible’s admonition that Christians should seek to be such things as righteous, holy, sanctified. Jesus even went so far as to urge us to “be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48) That’s certainly a stretch for which we are to reach, a lofty goal to which we aspire. But, at least we’ll know we’re headed in the absolute best direction. God bless, Herb Flanders Published Weekly by the First United Methodist Church 132 Cherokee Rd. THE NAVIGATOR

Wednesday August 12, 2015

After attending a wedding in the mountains around Clayton, Georgia last

weekend we spent a couple of days sightseeing

and then enjoyed Sunday dinner with Alecia, Cole and Miles. That meant that we often relied on our

GPS for guidance in arriving at a particular destination.

A GPS is a wonderful tool, one I love and increasingly appreciate in my attempts to find

hospitals, churches, or other unfamiliar addresses. However, a GPS has limitations. It can

only get you where you tell it to go. We found this out Sunday morning. Regina

was inputting the address for something like East Star St. W. Yeah, that’s a crazy address – how

exactly do you mix East and West in one street name? But this particular municipality had done

so and the GPS was confused. It wanted to take

us either to 107 Star Street or to 107 West Star Street. We chose the one that said “West” and

soon arrived at the wrong spot. If you’re shooting for the wrong destination

you’ll never wind up at your intended goal. Set the right goal and you’re on the right path.

Consider that in light of the Bible’s admonition that Christians should seek to be such things as

righteous, holy, sanctified. Jesus even went so far as to urge us to “be perfect, as your heavenly

Father is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48) That’s certainly a stretch for which we are to reach, a

lofty goal to which we aspire. But, at least we’ll know we’re headed in the absolute best direction.

God bless,

Herb Flanders

YOUTH NEWS JASON WEEMS

BELIEVING, LIVING OPENLY FOR GOD August 10th, 2015

REVOLUTION CAFE.... THIS SUNDAY... AUGUST 16th come serve and fellowship

!!!!EARN SOME BIBLE BUCKS!!!! The prayer of a child or a youth is empowering and heart

gripping to hear. For the past few weeks at youth we have been doing prayer a bit different. We circle our Square, grab

hands as we have done for a long time, but now we don't have one lead person praying, we all pray! We each pray for

the person we are holding hands with to our right. If you have never witnessed this come to youth , young or old.. IT

IS POWERFUL to hear and see! We pray out loud, we call the name of each person as we pray for them, lifting them up in prayer to God, we give PURPOSE to our prayer time, we give PURPOSE, to the love and care of our fellow youth. We are

finding it easier to pray out loud, to pray for another, and to learn that we are really loved. That we are making a

difference with each other, and we have seen the goodness that our friends have. I encourage you to come join our circle of prayer, great things are happening in our youth

group due to this, we are living our lives on PURPOSE, with a PURPOSE and for a PURPOSE.

If you want to hold hands with us and have the best prayer you have ever had prayed for you by a servant of God, join

us Sunday night.. IT’S AMAZING!!!! jason
