    Location: Dubai

    Duration: 12 months

    Built-up Area: 104,578 square meters

    Scope: Design-Build

The IKEA Dubai project was quite a unique accomplishment for a number

of reasons. First, the building standards and specifications set by IKEA far

exceed the typical standards found in this part of the world. Secondly, IKEA

operates a rigorous system called IWAY that monitors, controls and

protects the health, safety and welfare of construction workers on its

projects requiring Amana and its entire supply chain to fully comply with

global best practices. Thirdly, IKEAs approval process during the entire

construction requires the smallest details to be approved by multiple

stakeholders thus potentially leading to significant delays.

Nevertheless, Amana was up to the challenge and based on GRDIs

feedback, Amana excelled at the work performed.

warehouse construction within the Jebel Ali Free Zone. The facility consists

of the warehouse itself, a regional office building, a canteen block as well

    as other service amenities.

racking system stretching up to a height of over 14 meters. Given the

weight of the goods and the time-sensitivity of the project, Amana

implemented Laser Screed technology during the construction. Laser

Screed is an innovative concrete slab technology which is comparatively

quicker, high-strength, ultra-durable and safer than conventional
