the house

The project’s goal was to build a high stantard house, intended for a married couple and two childs. The sectorization of uses was the key word for the project. The commom areas were also well thought, so the family could have pleasant moments gathering. In the 1st floor, there is this huge living room, fully connected with the exterior, home theater

room and kitchen. This way, we were able to build a multiuse space, and depending on the users need, it can adjust itself. In the upper floor, we can find the intimate area, with three large suites. All rooms and their respec-tive balconies, face east, taking

advangtage of the morning sun, once the house is located in a tropycal city in Brasil. In short, this is a project of a house with modern features, that respects theirs users needs and that can transforms itself. Its a smart house, that takes advantage of the ventilation and the morning sun, providing the family with privacy and confort.

This project was about designing a 3 stars hotel in a medium Brazilian city. The proposed site is close to the main city river, so my goal was that all guests could enjoy the beautiful view. But, in the other hand, the view was pointed west, and I couldn’t have all my rooms facing this direction, because the amount of insolation is really a problem in this city. So I decided to have my rooms facing the opposite direction, east, but instead, have an open corridor that leads to all rooms, and a small open area in each floor, so guests feel welcome to seat for a while, relax and appreciate the view. In addition, I proposed a volume of crescent-shaped, so the building provides shad-ows to itself. In the bottom, I decided to have a simple volume, with all main service rooms, lobby, three auditori-ums, and a mezzanine with a restaurant where guests and non-guests are welcome.

SITE PLAN

Page 9: Amanda Campelo Portfolio

This building was designed to be the new campus for The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, in New York. The site, located between 6th Avenue and Sullivan Street, its triangle shaped and is next an existing park. So my first intention was to have my site as an extension of the park. I decided then to start with the pilotis system, and have my site as a dual private/public space. So, I took two spots in my site and developed specific furniture for it, and named as ‘outdoor performance spaces’. Exactly on top of these spaces, I created voids throughout the building, so others students and professors, inside the building, could watch what was happening downstairs. So this way, I gave the students the possibility of having real audience in the street level and also be watched by friends and co-workers. In addition, inside the building itself, I created a lot of hang-out spaces connected with the voids, so students could spend the day at school relaxing, practicing, helping friends, doing homework, etc. The 6th Avenue façade is clear membrane, made of steel and glass while the Sullivan façade is compost by a system of balconies, where students can also by outside for a little while.

This temporary house located in Martisan Park, Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is designed to attend artisans or any kind of people who want to go to Haiti to do voluntary work. The rooms are located next to each other, so people from different parts of the world can interact and work together. The entire house is built in bamboo, resistant material localy available, and supended, to increase the green area and to allow the wind to flow thru the house. The roof surface was maximixed, to collect as much rain water as possible to be used both in the house and in the crops. All the waste from the bathrooms are collected in a tank under the ground so it can be also used in the crops. The landscape strategy take advantage of the slopping site to maximize the cropping area but it also gives enough space for leisure and sports practice.

the rose wind

This project was developed during my Color Lab class, and propose a painting for an existing nook at one of Parson’s buildings. The wind is the main source of inspiration. The yellow marks the wind movement at the day of the assigment, that was coming thru the back of the wall, while the red and blue rep-resents the wind pattern in New York for the past 30 years.

trypitchs

This work was developed in the fall of 2012, in my Digital Presentation class. Throughout the semester, we were chal-lenged in different ways, and among others tasks, we were asked to develop two trypitchs with the furniture we had previ-ous modeled in the 3ds max. The compositions had to have a narrative included, and tell some kind of history relating to the furniture.
