We live in a world full of Mercy and hatred.Take the papers of each day .You will

observe that disharmony everywhere.The family live as a social community.

Social fabric has been corroded by the misguided moral values that block Mercy

of the Lord.Divorces, fights, misunderstandings in the families have resulted in

broken families. Children don't know where to look for guidance. Counsellors

have increased and confessions have been less day by day. I feel that the most

important gift needed today is Merciful heart of Jesus. Where the parents forgive

each other and live in harmony, peace and joy of the Lord. What is missing in our

families is also family meals. Parents are worried about their bank Accounts, Bank

Balance etc. Attention, time, love and every one lives under the same roof but are

no longer a family. The family is a House. Parking Place or Parking Stand!

Let us drive home in our hearts the need to be merciful as Jesus, giving, sharing

and supporting each other at home! What a lovely place to live in when Mercy

overflow our home.Ther are Homes that live for each other.There are homes that

are merciful.There are homes that love the neighbour. We need more homes

during the Year of Mercy.

God calls us to freedom, not bondage to the Law. God loves and calls sinners, not those who have 'made it' under their own steam.Part of my own growth has been a serious reading of the gospels and a deep desire to put what I have understood into practice in daily life. Scripture is God's Word to us and Jesus shows us God's human face. Jesus was a child himself so he knows what children feel. He experienced poverty, pain and sorrow as he matured. Jesus welcomed sinners and healed the sick without choosing those who were 'worthy' of help. Jesus suffered in his Passion, and his face was bruised and bloody. Nobody wanted to stay with him unless he was a glorious and conquering Messiah.I want to recognize Jesus even when others fail to recognize him; to discover his face beneath the bruises and spittle. I want to be open to him however and under whatever guise he comes to me: in littleness, in poverty, in daily life, in the cross, as well as in joyful ̀ resurrection' moments.A Way Based on Daily lifeLiving in a convent means living closely with all sorts of people, and not always the ones I would have chosen to be friends with. So my Way comes not only from Scripture but also from my daily experience of life my life as a child at home and my life here in Carmel. It's the same kind of life that most people have to live circumscribed and ordinary, without much diversion except the entertainment we provide for ourselves.I write songs and plays to give joy to others. Joan of Arc is one of my heroines and I've acted her part in a play I wrote to celebrate her courage and dedication. I've also set verses to music and we sing them while working. As a community we know how to laugh together and how to put up with one another's foibles. I expect I have some funny ways of my own too that annoy the sisters. But I don't let being human cause me any distress. It's the treasure God has given me with which to gain heaven.Look at Mary, the mother of Jesus. Her life was lived without miracles. She was an ordinary woman of her place and time. She knew what it was to be a refugee, to have to bring up a child in difficult circumstances, to be left a widow when Joseph died. Like other mothers, Mary had to let her son grow up and move away from her, and she remained with him by the cross when all seemed lost. She knew the human situation just as we do.It really annoys me when I hear preachers telling us of the marvelous things that happened to Mary, miracles and such like. She was one of us, not some superwoman knowing the future in advance! Read the gospels and you'll see I'm right. Mary is my model of faith and hope in daily life. She kept close to Jesus even when she didn't understand all that was going on. The angel left her after the Annunciation, and as far as we know that's the only angel she ever saw. Mary is mother before she is queen, a mother who has shared all the sorrows her children experience. She knows from the inside what it means to be limited and human.

FAMIILY AND SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES

Small Christian Communities are criticized, looked down upon and called gossip mongers etc. by few. The truth is all gossip and criticize. In fact, on the contrary Small Christian Communities arise our faith is deepened. Relationships are formed, developed

and a sense of togetherness is always there as an extended family. P o p e John Paul 11 encouraged the Small Christian Communities. Jesus was the one to form Small Christian Communities with his twelve apostles. Later on the disciples too formed them. It is basically the reminiscent of the early Church.

We normally meet only once a month in a home. It is a simple seven step method. We begin with a hymn to the Holy Spirit, then we pray and invoke the presence of our Lord. Next we reverently read a passage from the Holy Bible wherein all listen attentively. We reflect on the sacred verses where we speak with fondness aloud the special/touching/divine words from the Scripture which have deep meaning. Then we remain silent for two minutes and allow our Saviour to speak to us. The message which we receive during the Holy silence, we convey to all about how we have been enriched/our spiritual experience/ how some have lived the word of God. Whatever work we are supposed to do or have done is discussed. We pray as per our heart inspires for the welfare of all. Lastly we end with a hymn to our Beloved Mother.

Important information about the Church from the Parish Priest which is given during Parish Council meetings is told. Social activities/ programmes / recreation like Mother's day, carol singing, Christmas party, Somudai Mellavo take place. There are games, prizes and gifts. There is cheerfulness everywhere and a bond among all.

Lastly, every time we hold a Small Christian Community gathering at someone's place Our Dear Lord is present.- Mathew 18: 20 “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them”. It is time invested in an appropriate and Holy manner.Isn't this a wonderful and marvelous feeling? Small Christian Community has definitely made a difference in my life.
