Checking-In: Where are You at in your Paper?
Moving forward, make short notes to yourself about how you’re feeling with each section.
Where do you feel stuck? Where would you like feedback?Where do you want to put more work?

• Broad strokes overview. About what, why, and
how will you write this paper?
– What is your topic?
– Why, or how, is it relevant to social work?
– What arguments are you making?
– What will you cover in the paper? > Give reader a linear “roadmap”
– Why is this topic important?
Paper Part 1:Introducing Your Topic
•3 to 4 pages
•Give detailed information on topic. More depth
than breadth.
– Provide important context for understanding
– Assume reader does not know the topic
– Use scholarly sources
– Use headings to guide the reader (and yourself)
– You are telling a story!

• Similar to Integrative Reflections. Highlight historical
tensions in social work and interpret your topic
through them.

Paper Part 3: Conclusion and Implications

issues. Draw parallels between now and then

social justice today?
