1.0 Introduction

This assignment is part of the requirement of BIK3033 Writing Skills. The writer is

required to write five different types of essay. The essays that are written for this

assignment are Illustrating, Cause and Effect, Process, Comparing and Contrasting and

Classifying. The outline of the essays are written before the essays to help the writer in

writing a good essay with an introductory paragraph, a body with topic sentences and

supporting details, and end with a conclusion paragraph.

There are five types of essay that I wrote in this assignment. They are illustrating, cause

and effect, process, comparing and contrasting and classifying essay. An illustration

essay is simply an essay that uses specific examples such as facts, anecdotes or other

specific information to illustrate a general idea. Second, the cause and effect essay

explains why things happen and what happens as a result. Another essay is a process

essay that tells the reader how to do something or describes how something is done. A

compare and contrast essay shows the analysis of the differences and similarities of two

distinct subjects. Last, a classification essay group objects, people, or events by the

characteristics they share. An outline is important before writing an essay to produce a

good piece of writing.
