Maintaining A Solid Media Contact Relationship - Today

• In an age when many people have access to email on their cell phones, prompt reply to email is expected. In formal interactions, addressing the other person to begin and signing off your name is expected. It is no longer acceptable to let an email sit for a couple of days.

• Texting has become common place. It generally makes sense to invest in an unlimited monthly texting plan. Brief messages save time when interacting with your business partners and lead to higher levels of productivity. However, do not forget that when initiating a new relationship, a formal telephone call is still the norm.

Skype

• There is a free version available and readily accessible, with the option of paying to upgrade your account for more features. Functions well in the free version, however.

• Calls with video can be made to foreign country locations.

• A great tool for job interviews.

• Ability to type into a written dialog box while engaged in a video phone call, making it easy to weave references to items on the web into a conversation while continuing a dialogue.

• Ability to hold conference calls.

You Tube Videos

• Great way to showcase new information with the use of written and/or spoken dialogue as well as video footage.

• Can attract interest through the use of music.

• Free to make an account.

• Allows up to 15 minutes per video.

• Links to YouTube Videos can be placed on other social media sites.

Think Creatively

• Advertise in unexpected ways and use your local businesses.

- Local businesses may do custom designs for apparel.

- Printing companies may offer copying and duplicating services to help with promotion.

• Don’t underestimate the power of the poster. It is a quick and easy way to get the word out.

1. Wait for link and thumbnail to appear, then remove URL and replace with comments.

2. Double click on link title or text and then edit.
