My name is Matthew Drake, I’m a freelance Graphic Designer that goes by the philosophy of that in Design, things should be kept to the following - Simplicity, Functionality and Consistency. Simplicity being about not making things complex for the intended client, functionality being about whether or not the product is practical in the real world and consistency as there is a need for order as if there is no order, than there would be chaos. It’s those thing I believe will benefit potential employers.

In addition of going by this philosophy, I wish to prove through some of my work is that people with Disabilities, like myself, can be just like everyone else in society. I feel that it will be satisfying to my working career if I raise awareness towards people with Disabilities.

September 2011 to October 2011 - Freelance Graphic Designer at Wagga Wagga City Pistol Club. Responsible for the completely redesigning the logo for the aformentioned Wagga Wagga City Pistol Club.

May 2007 - IT Network Support at Bush & Campbell Chartered Accountants. Maintained Computer Hardware and handled Software Installations within the Network.

SOFTWARE SKILLS

Proficient in using both PC (Windows on all levels as well as Linux on a basic level) and Macintosh (up to OS X Mountain Lion)

Extensive Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 & 2008/2008 R2.

Extensive Knowledge of the following Adobe software: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Adobe Acrobat.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Oracle MySQL Server.

MATTHEW DRAKE - NOT DEFINED DESIGN

CORPORATE PROFILE - I’ve recently become a freelance graphic designer with the intent (in the long term) of establishing ‘Not Defined Design’, a graphic design business with in-house printing capabilities.

MARKET POSITION - As a freelance designer, I’m currently competing with other freelance designers within the Wagga Wagga Region. Furthermore I would be competing with design printeries (Oxford Printery, Quick Print, Active Print and Snap Printery) and design studios (Simply Graphics, Ad-Vision and Jammedia for example) within that region.

CURRENT POSITION - I’m at the moment in the process of incorporating a new logo for my business.

COMMUNICATION BACKGROUND - Despite the fact that this will be a new business, I have redone some branding for Wagga Wagga City Pistol Club, which involved consultation with the client, production of various concepts and the presentation of the final product.

COMMUNICATION TASK/THE MESSAGE - The Message of Not Defined Design is that designs should not be defined; but instead should be explored upon. The concept of Not Defined De-sign came about due to my Autism, which is something that I do not wish as an individual to be defined by.

TARGET MARKET - My main market are small business in need for logo design or rebranding. Furthermore, I will be designing and producing products (T-Shirts, Coffee Mugs and Labels for example) that will be sold to the General Public, primarily through an online store.

OBJECTIVES - What I want out of this is to get a name for myself and for my new business.
