Novi Sad is the second largest city in Serbia and the capital of the autonomous province of Vojvodina. Lying on the banks of the Danube river, the city faces the northern slopes of Fruška Gora mountain. Throughout history, Novi Sad was a centre of culture that gathered poets, painters and many other artists, being referred to as ‘Serbian Athens’. Today, Novi Sad is a home of EXIT, one of the most popular music festivals in Europe that brings together musicians from around the world. Due to its historical significance and great potential to develop even more, Novi Sad was proclaimed the European Capital of Culture for the year 2021!
