Le centre de loisir structure bois s’organise autour de 5 salles d’activités qui acceuillent dans les «tunnels» formés par leur éloignement, des espaces ludiques continus supplémentaires. The majority of London’s population is supposedly
single.
This project tackles the question of the dynamics of
their life-style as well as the implications on architecture
and urban design.
Our contemporary society is experiencing a transition
from the traditionnal social structure, based on the
couple-family, to an individual-based society, where the
desires and needs of each and everyone rule.
However the electrons that we are still urge for social
encounters. The explosion of the family structure is
reunited under assembly of multiple individuals who
share tastes, opinions and life-style.
Proximity, individuality and community are key points
to contemporary single life.

The individual space of accomodation is the
contemporary single person’s most precious

Montpellier is a fast growing 255.000 inhabitants city in
the South of France. They are currently undertaking a
vast urban renewal plan (250M €). The arrival of a new
high-speed railway has risen the oppurtunity to develop
the South suburbs of the city, right between the actual
fringes, the international Airport and the seaside.
1.2M sqm new constructions (housing, office hub, •commercial retail local and regional scale, university,
leisure and nightlife programs ...)

Dense urban development around multimodal station
First major axe of development: east to west
along railway and motorway.
What could have been a hard fraction in the
territory is invested by a dense office-purposed
«island», which also acts as a sound barrier. It
is animated by a intense nightlife and a leisure
tropical garden along the railway.

The Atelier took part in the Grand Paris studies which
concluded here to a masterplan for the North-South axis
from Paris to the International Airport Orly.
I took part in the development phase of a 4 ha area, at
a major junction point of motorways, now an industrial
site, and finalist candidate to the 80.000 seats French
Rugby Federation stadium. This major facility has
boosted urban renawal projects in the area, with the
objective of an urban stadium, local quality life and
sustainable impact.
I drove the development directly with the Project
Manager, taking responsibility for the feasability
studies and contacts to the client, up to delivering the
final proposition to the competition (against ont other
possible site in league).

This MArch project was conducted in partnership with
local and regional councils as an alternative study to the
controversed project for a major industrial harbour 20
km out of Paris. The original project is developed by
Grimshaw Architects.
This project is today strongly rejected by the local
population, as it will utterly transform their preserved
environment right outside of Paris.
Our approach was meant to opening minds to alternate
solutions, where local and regional stakes could find
common ground.
This demanded strong communication skills, as well
a thorough research on geography, history, political
ambitions and national development plans.

Berlin is known to be the most exciting European city
to live in, considering all the experiences available
and the overwhelming feeling of freedom and
adventure. Living here should procure some of this
excitment, whilst offering a comfortable spaces both for
individualities and social encounters.
This dense 80-dwellings development is
structured in a steep parcel. Carriage access determine
«islands», highgardens shared by two to four blocks.
The apartments themselves develop extra
exterior spaces for storage and loggias.
Proximity between buildings is meant to
encourage encounters. However light and views are
always in control.

Mixed use program: Two theatre rooms, Sports hall,
Public Library, Nightclub, Restaurants and Commercial
retail.
This building stands as a landmark along the Ourq
canal, under urban renovation. The slow slope invites
the promenade to discover the building through the
public spaces animated by restaurants and shops.
The alternative promenade to the canal rises the
pedestrians to a panoramic viewpoint at the point of the
development. From there, they can admire the canal
going to La Vilette and the shimering of the glass façade
of the public library.
Such as the building should become the new vibrant
point of the bank, the storage room of the library
embodies the heart of it. The Tower of Books is a
wooden circular structure, protective from natural glare
and symbol to the building.

Centre de loisir ludiqueThis small facility is a wooden structured leisure center
and playground for children, set in a small abandonned
parcell only open on the street.
The design plays with five activity rooms, which,
stretched apart from one another, generate tunnel-like
spaces where more activities can take place.
All the children’s senses are called upon
to discover the interior and exterior spaces. The
imagination is free to wander and invent stories to the
peculiar spaces of the playground.
From the street, the building appears like an
original and brightly coloured object, from which
laughs and screams seams to be rising.
