from NEW freedoms of African-Americans

RESENT/RESENTED• To not like, to be upset about something, to

be furious of something.

Civil Rights Act of 1866

African Americans gained equal rights. Authorized the

use of federal troops to enforce the new laws.

15th Amendment (1870)

Ensures all citizens the right to vote regardless of race, color or previous

conditions of servitude.
