• Pioneer model of pre-school by a private school under Mary Evans (Harris Memorial School Manila) ; This later became a laboratory school for kinder majors -1920

• Motivated civic groupsNational Federation of Women’s Clubs (NFWC) – set up play rooms in deprived areas for children of working mothers and the poor.

• Government issued permits to private-run pre-schools - 1938

• Almost all schools closed• NFWC still tried even at all odds

(degree); Spearheaded by Harris Memorial School
