Guarded to guard

God’s providential love through his antagonists guarded him from the shackles of death.A man went with valour was carried back bedridden.

In gratitude to God’s protection Ignatius writes in FI. “for the defense of faith” and this now is sprouted into Promotion of justice. Now his men not only guard the faith but also the faithful and more.

The thoughts evoked in his heart nurtured the purpose of his earthly sojourn.

Later in Manresa he gave a form to this God nurturing experience.

Awaken to awaken

Ignatius had scruples and was worried about his past life, confessing his sins frequently .

At one time he asked himself, What have I done for Christ?

What am I doing for Christ? What ought I to do for Christ?

Ignatius’ answer for first 2 questions was nothing. But third had something to say. This is the awakening, led Ignatius to serve God in the rest of his life. This question still awakens inner potentiality of many souls once crippled by the past.

Illuminated to illuminate

The life of Jesus was the very instrument illuminated Ignatius.

The 2nd week of Sp. Ex. – an illuminative week where we ask God’s grace “to know, to love, and to follow Jesus” illuminated by this grace Ignatius crossing the boundaries of monasticism found apostolic order.

This is the illumination still makes Jesuits,Available

The light of illumination from the darkest caverns of Manresa continue to illuminate the world from the darkness of ignorance.

United to unite

The revelation at river Cordoner united Ignatius with the creator and with the creation. This union mirrored as he later called his sons “to be Contemplative in Action”.Ignatius suggested the fathers in the council of Trent to stay in the hospitals. May be he thought that pain and struggle of people would unite them with the suffering Lord.

This spirit is still with Jesuits as they find their abode with the homeless,

Their hands rushes to the deliverance of the oppressed and their voices advocate for the

redemption of the refugees. This union will continue till there are injustices

in the world.

Sent to send:Jesuits apostleship is not that of St. Peter but that of St.

Paul. Ignatius was sent to Rome to be like St.Peter to make

his men St. Paul’s.His stability was to keep the mobility of the society alive.

When Ignatius died there were 1000 Jesuits in many parts of the world.

Though he remained in Rome, his heart was always at sail.Jesuits are men sent on mission. God sent Ignatius to send

numerous men to establish His kingdom on earth.
