ORDER OF OPERATIONS

1. Be ready to put in the time, and give your team permission todo the same. Expect at least 3 hours for each employee that’s actively involved.

2. You have to be prepared to follow though on at least some of what you uncover, even if you won't be able to do it all immediately.

3. You've got to show that you really care about engagement—that means taking actions quickly on things you can solve immediately.

4. Talk to everyone or at least a representative selection of all groups, roles, departments.

5. Have open conversations, be inclusive, and show your work as frequently as you can.

6. You have to be ready to hear difficult truths, to not freak out when that happens, and to know to celebrate that people trust you enough to share them.
