Honoring 100 years of the end of WWI 11/11/1918

WWI Historical Clothing Exhibit Friday, 11/2 3:00pm-8:00pm Ashtabula Library Guest commentator and fashion historian, Susan Powers, MA, in association with the Ashtabula Downtown Development Association (ADDA) First Friday Street Fest, will present a WWI historical clothing exhibit, with clothing from 1914-1918. The types of textiles used, silhouette shapes, and social and cultural forces impacted fashion during WWI, what has become known as the “Great War”. The changing fashions over the four years of the war is arguably one of the most significant reflections of the

November is National Novel Writing Month! Write on! Have you heard of NaNoWriMo? It’s National Novel Writing Month and we’re celebrating with a contest for young authors! Students in grades 4-12 are invited to enter. Submit a typed essay, poem, or short story (1500 words or less) to the library to have it reviewed by guest judges. Then, join us for a party on Tuesday, December 4th, when we will announce the winners and celebrate all the entrants! Submissions are due by November 26th and can be turned in at the Geneva or Ashtabula Libraries or emailed to Marisha Sullivan: [email protected]. Please include your grade, name, an email address, and phone number with your entry.
