I am pleased that the Association’s Ball has returned to the autumn. It is anexcellent opportunity for us to all meet up, socialise and celebrate ourachievements over the past year. I look forward to seeing you there.
We are nearly half way through this Parliament. It hardly seems like twoyears ago when we were celebrating kicking Gordon Brown and Labour out ofGovernment. When we found out what a mess the public finances were reallyin. We did not know what difficulties being in Coalition, with the LiberalDemocrats, would bring; but we must continue our endeavours to reduce thestructural deficit in the public finances. I remain committed to doing my bestfor all my constituents as your Conservative Member of Parliament for theGainsborough Constituency.
It was great to see Lincolnshire in such fine form over the Jubillee weekend.Together with Jesse Milne I went to seven village Fetes – it was great to seesuch a loyal turnout for the Queen.
Locally, we are preparing for the Police and Crime Commissioner election,across the whole of Lincolnshire, which will take place on Thursday, 15th
November 2012 and next spring will be elections for Lincolnshire CountyCouncil. I know that our candiates will work hard in these elections, and if youcan help I am sure they would appreciate your assistance.
I would just like to record my gratitude for the work my staff do, both JessieMilne and Giles McNeill in the constituency, together with Hugh Selka,Andrew Cusack and, my wonderful wife, Mary in the Office at Westminster.
I know that the Gainsborough Constituency Conservative Association isgoing from strength to strength and I wish each and all of you the very best.
