AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV Celebration of India’s 75 years of

Independence at SSPU

Symbiosis Skills and Professional

University organized two competitions in

online mode for all students of SSPU, on

account of celebration of India’s 75 years

of Independence “Azadi Ka Amrit

Mahotsav”. We received very positive

response from all the schools. Around 111

students participated in the Presentation

competition and 80 students participated

in Poster competition. Out of all

participants the jury selected 3 best

Celebration of International Women’s Day at SSPU

School of Beauty and Wellness took the initiative and

celebrated “International Women’s Day” for all the ladies staff

of the Symbiosis Skills and Professional University on 8th March

2021. The event was graced by Hon’ble Pro-chancellor, Dr.

Swati Mujumdar as Chief Guest. Dr. Swati Mujumdar suggested

and motivated the ladies staff to give priority and importance

to their Physical and Mental Health. The event was made lively

by recitation of poems and sharing motivational life

experiences and speeches by various staff.

Shailee Gaud secured 1st position in “ENVIZN"

Ms. Shailee Gaud, 3rd Year student from School of Architecture

secured 1st position in “ENVIZN" a high-rise skyscraper design

competition organized by AAKAR IIT BOMBAY. This competition

aimed at creativity and design thinking. It was open for

Architects all over India under the age of 25 years. The winning

design will be published in the Construction World Magazine

along with a Prize Pool of INR 30,000/-.

Visit of Camp Education Society Team to SSPU

Mr. Ajay Kumar Rai, Principal, Camp Education Society and his

team members were the special visitors at School of Beauty and

Wellness in the month of March, for developing Beauty and

Nutrition courses jointly with Symbiosis. This meeting opened

new horizons for both the organizations and was a great

Visit of MCED, Maharashtra Center to SSPU

Mr. Srijeet Nair and Mr. Vivek Tondre from Maharashtra Center

for Entrepreneurship Development (MCED) visited the School

of Beauty and Wellness in the month of March. The visit was an

initiative to develop various EDP courses in the field of Beauty

and Wellness in order to help various BPL sections of society.

Panel Discussion on “Water for a Sustainable Future”

A Panel Discussion on account of World Water Day was

organized on 22nd March 2021 by School of Retail Management

on the topic “Water for a Sustainable Future” to understand the

importance and value of water. The session highlighted the

significance of water on account of World Water Day, which

celebrates water and raises awareness about the global water

crisis, core focus of observance to support achievement of

sustainable development goal6 (SDG6): Water and Sanitation

for all. Eminent scientists Dr. Pandith Madhnure Director,

Ground Water Department, Telangana State, Ms. Anu Radha

Bhatia, Scientist and Head Central Ground Water Board (CGWB)

Pune and Dr. Sahebrao Sonkamble, Senior Scientist, National

Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) Hyderabad were present

as the expert panellists for the session. Dr Harish Kumar Agre

Assistant Professor, was the moderator for the session.

Webinar on “Uses Bamboo in Construction”

Students from Symbiosis School of Architecture, Urban

Development and Planning attended one-day webinar held on

12th March 2021 to understand the various uses of bamboo and

different techniques of construction. The webinar also covered

the advantages and disadvantages of bamboo. It explained the

sustainable development and their various project involving

bamboo. They also briefed about the difficulties that one can

face using bamboo as construction material and how to tackle

it. The overall seminar was thought provoking and a learning

opportunity for students.

Platform”

School of Retail Management organised a

guest session on the topic ““SAP: An

Effective and Efficient Retail Information

System Platform”. This session was

organised on 13th March 2021 and it was

delivered by Mr. Shantanu Yewale who is

currently associated with Infosys as

Technology Analyst and has worked on

complex SAP GST and manufacturing

implementations on various support

projects in India and Abroad in countries

like Thailand, Egypt, Algeria and USA.

National Level Science Day Quiz

Competition, 2021

School of Mechatronics Engineering

organized “National Level Science Day

Quiz Competition 2021” on the occasion

of National Science Day for the Junior

College Science students to create

awareness about the importance of

science in our daily life and its application

for welfare of mankind using Engineering

and Technology. Around 531 students

from the different states of the country

registered for the competition. The

competition majorly focused on judging

the knowledge of the students based on

Skills and Applications in General Sciences.

The Online Quiz was conducted in 3

Rounds. Based on final round the Winner,

1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up were

declared on 5th March 2021. All the

participants were awarded with E-

certificates and Winners were awarded

with gift vouchers.

Webinar by Mr. Yash Rathi on “Design Thinking”

School of Inter-disciplinary Sciences organized a unique session

of Mr. Yash Rathi on the highly sought topic- “Design Thinking”

for all the students of School of Architecture, Urban planning

and Development on 20th March 2021. He conducted the

session in storytelling manner and it was received very

enthusiastically by the students. Mr Rathi is from Learning and

Organization Development Specialist, Ford Motor Company.

Webinar on Industry expectations from IT professionals by

Vikram Vij

School of Inter-disciplinary Sciences organized an online

webinar of Mr. Vikram Vij, who is currently working as

Associate Lead - Talent Acquisition with Infosys, hiring talent

from the Tech Schools of the country. The session was held on

23rd March 2021 for the students of B.Sc. Data Science and

B.Tech CSIT on the topic –“Industry expectations from IT

professionals”. Through his presentation, Mr. Vikram shared

valuable tips with the students regarding how the industry

looks at the fresher and what aspects are to be improvised to

be an efficient workforce in the software field. He elaborated

the difference between the key concept of being industry-

ready and job-ready and urged students to be work-ready with

different skills and talents needed for effective role-play at the

workplace.

Symbiosis School of Architecture, Urban

Development and Planning had organised

a landscape workshop by Mr. Harish

Kulkarni (A Horticulturist and a Landscape

Developer) from Sienna Institute of

Landscape Management on 26th March

2021. The session was divided into three

parts, the first part was based on soil and

climate, the second on flora and fauna,

and the last part on design principles.

Second batch of Diploma in

Manufacturing Excellence, FIAT

Interviews of the shortlisted students

were conducted as a part of the admission

process for the second batch of Diploma in

Manufacturing Excellence, FIAT. The

Interviews were conducted at MPRTC,

Shirur on 12th March 2021 for 36 students,

at SSPU Campus, Kiwale on 13th March

2021 for 21 students and at Mulshi on 17th

March 2021 for 18 students. Along with

this online interviews were also conducted

for candidates for Latur, Beed, Nasik and

Nanded on 16th and 17th March 2021.

Total of 92 candidates were present for

the interview.

Submission of Working Drawing and Final Budget

Symbiosis School of Architecture, Urban Development and

Planning collaborated with Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal

Corporation to redevelop six sites in the Kiwale village. The six

sites were, the Y junction near Mukai Chowk, the Panchayat

Office, Banyan Tree opposite SSPU, the Kiwale Ghat, and the

Ravet Ghat. The SAUDP students were divided into groups of

six, forming fifteen groups in total. The design competition was

held for each site between the teams. On 5th and 6th March

2021, students had to work on the Working Drawings and Final

Budget.

Street study for Street Design Competition and Auto Stand

Design Competition

Symbiosis School of Architecture, Urban Development and

Planning had planned a street visit on 24th March 2021 to the

streets of areas near Pimpri-Chinchwad for street design

competition and Auto Stand design Competition. The students

of 3rd and 4th year were assigned the study of the sites for

Street Design and 1st and 2nd year students were assigned the

study of the sites for Auto Stand Design.

High-Performance Coach for National Rifle

Team Ar. Deepali Deshpande on 13th

March 2021. The event had the rifle-

shooter answer various questions ranging

from her childhood to that of her

architecture student life to how she

managed architecture with her passion.

Overall, it was a fun and interesting

session, where the students understood

the hardships and also the balance, which

Ar. Deepali Deshpande maintained

between both the fields during her initial

days.

Faculty from Symbiosis School of Architecture, Urban Development and Planning visited G. D. Environmental Pvt. Ltd. (GDEPL) Waste Management Plants on 19th March 2021. GDEPL’s Waste Management Plants convert different types of wastes into energy and fuel (partial substitute for diesel). SSPU has signed MoU with G. D. Environmental Pvt. Ltd. through School of Architecture and is going to conduct courses on Waste Management for G. D. Environmental Pvt. Ltd. (GDEPL).

Dr. Gauri Shiurkar, Director, Symbiosis School of Architecture,

Urban Development and Planning was invited as a panellist for

“Learning from Literature” organised by UVCT (Urban Village

Charitable Trust) held on 17th March 2021.

Workshop by Ar. Viraj Pardesi

Symbiosis School of Architecture, Urban Development and

Planning organised a three-day workshop by Ar. Viraj Pardesi

(The WOW Designers) on 30th March 2021. In this Workshop

students had three interesting sessions with Ar. Viraj Pardesi,

where they learnt about various Artists, Architects, Urban

Spaces, and a few projects and case studies.

Guest session on “Mindfulness: An enabler for higher

emotional resilience.”

School of Inter-disciplinary Sciences organized an interesting

session of Mr. Abhishek Mishra, Founder & President, The

Perennial Global on the very unique topic- Mindfulness : An

enabler for higher emotional resilience. The online webinar was

held on 10th March 2021 and more than 100 students

participated actively in the session that was conducted in

workshop mode and students participated in various activities

conducted by the resource person. He shared some tips on

Breathing Techniques, Meditating, Relaxing the Mind and

Thinking Positively. Stress Management is one of the key

concept in highly competitive and stressful industry

environment that he explained in detail and suggested very

useful remedies on anger, frustration, anxiety and laziness.
