If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven played music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, Here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Gardening by the Moon Calendar AlmanacPreventive measures for

Snail & Slugs March 2012

How to kill and simply control snails in your yard:

Snails eat so", succulent plant tissue and rasp large holes in foliage, stems & fruit. !ey can completely demolish seedlings and

severely damage young shoots and plants. !ey lay egg masses in moist soil, or under rocks, in containers, or in garden debris. Eggs hatch in 2 to 4 weeks and take 2 years to reach maturity.

If you Implement something quickly and easily, you won’t have any further problems. Wouldn’t it be nice to have healthy, uneaten plants once again!

To coax snails out of the #owerbeds into what they think is a safe haven, you can take cabbage leaves, orange skins, grapefruit skin, or citrus rinds and place them on a #at board. snails will crawl under theses items to escape heatand light exposure. In the morning, all you need do do is dump them into the trash.

!ere are di$erent remedies you can use, to create a barrier for the snails. An item such as copper gives the snails an electrical shock on contact. crushed egg shells, sandpaper, and cinders can also be used as barriers for snails. You can also repell snails by adding mint or sage to your mulch.
