  • Dear Onee:

    Gerald Baley1034D KinrossEl PasOy Texas 79925January 15, 1975

Seeme unreal another month has rolled by and it's time for our letter#Ws truly apologize for some did not get our December letter# A mix upoccurred and ws cams up short When we realized it was to late to doanythingo

Vi/eather history was again made in El Paso Never has there been awhite Christmasc On Christmas morning a few snow flurries turned into afull fledged snow and by evening we had 4 l/2 inches. We could not believe our eyesc Again on New Year's it tried# We got about 1 l/2 inches. All around us the weather has been wild so I believe we are fortunatethat is all we got. The natives and old timers can't believe what tookplace this fall and winter. But we don't mind and today it is upwardsin the 60's and lovely That's good for an aching backi

Second semester started today at College, It is too early to knowthe enrollment but it looks goodo

We had a thrilling experience in the Evangelistic Meeting January5-10 with The New Testament Christian Church here in Northeast El Paso*Dr Wayne ShaWj of Lincoln Christian Seminary, was the Evangelist,Jerry had the musice Brother Shaw is an excellent evangelist and thsBrewere 6 additions to the Church, A real spiritual uplift was felt by allWe were so grateful for getting to know the folk there in a closer way.

The mipuijing closed Friday night (10th) and Saturday morning J-err'yand Ed Weckerly (Promotional Director) went to Aztec, New Mexico to represent the College in a rally on Sunday there. They were eager for thisopportunity but Jerry literally was thrilled beyond words as he got tosee many dear friends and former students (from when he taught at I,B.C.)that we had not seen in years. They were so sarmly received even thoSunday morning it was The Lord blessed them with excellent travelweather, Tim and I kept the home fires burning as the doctor advisedagainst my going, I cried a little as I had so hoped to see all ourfriends

The Choir will present the 3rd performance on T.V, February 2nd. Weare so grateful for this way of witnessing. The Eastside Church has theservice that day.

We would like to share Tim's good fortune with you. Folk had suggestedwe contact Furr's Cafeteria'for a Piano audition. Each evening from 6:00to 8:00 they have dinner music, I called the manager and told him of Tim'shandicap and how he played by ear. The end result he hired him tho healready had 2 women. They put Tim on Wednesday and Saturday evenings,I thought Tim would bust when he said "Tim, I'm hiring you," He allowshim to use a few hymns, "How Great Thou Art" has thrilled so many. Indiscussing wha;^ he could use in the way of hymns Tim said, "When the Rollis Called Up Yonder" This is his favorite song, I do believe he playsit every time he is at the piano practicing. Jerary said, "No, Tim, thatis too evangelistic-your music must be slow and easy," We thought thatwas it. We w^nt in one night, sat away from the piano so he did not knowwe were thereo After awhile what did we hear as slow and easy as couldbe - you guessed it, "When the Roll is Called up Yonder"^ It was beauti-fulo I said to Jerry, "I do believe when the Lord comes Tim will be playing that song'

Recent visitors have been Gladys Furen from my home church in Ohioand her brother and family from Tucson, Arizona, Mro and Mrs. ClarenceLinsenbigler , Pam and Johno We were so happy to see them.

We are so grateful to all who have helped us financially and we findit impossibleto express what your care means to us. We also know fromaccomplishments you are praying. Thank you so muchi

Wumerous folk have said, " Did we regret the uncertainity of thisnew work?" I hope I can adequately tell you how we feel. No, it isnot a usual thing half way thru life and at 24 years of marriage tostep out on faith to a totally new worki But, wp had no question thiswas what the Lord wanted us to do. I have said He led us - but maybea stronger word would be a good shove got us started. It has not beenwithout some very trying times, but we feel it is truly the "WhippedCream" so to speak of our years of service. As we have looked backover our work, we can see now that each and every place we have servedIS now helping us here in some way. We wondered at times why, now Hehas revealed to us the reason. Oh, we could never ever regret thisrich fruitful experience. Our faith has deepened, our prayer lifemuch more meaningful, and our service more needed and richer. Is thissomething to be sorry for? I canH help but think of James 5:7and 0,

So give yourselves humbly to God, Resist the devil and he will fleefrom you. And when you draw close to God, God will draw close to you".

We need your prayers above all, and we are depending on your gifts. As I close I Thess, 1;2 reads "We always thank God for you and

    psay for you constantly,"

    With Our Love,

Rosemary, J^ry(/andP. S, Rosemary is in the hospital for treatment and physical therapy.

On T.V,, we had to cut about 10or so minuter as it ran over the one-haZ^ hour allotted time.

The coZlege year Zs beginning to draw to a close. Hardly seems possible - 2months and then summer'. Poor kids have had tests, so I'm not so sure they'll besorry for the end'.

There have been many blessings and an/iWers to prayer, OJould like to shareone of the most recent. The college as yet has not had a president. Brother BillMorgan has served as Academic Vean, Responsibilities have gAown and wiZZ continueto QAow - thus jL.m&sident was needed. After much prayer and searching, no onewas better quaJUiled or hneiJO the need greater than he, and after having been asked,he accepted. He knows the peopZe, the area, and is bi-Zingu^ so it wiZZ be areal bZessing to us aZZl In turn, an AfiaflMti-Saftn was needed. They asked Jer^to serve in thts capacity. After much though^^md prayer, he also accepted. Thetrustees then took the recommendations to Sie Board of Regents \keeJMg on March1st and both men were accepted by unanimous vote. PZe/ue be much in pAayer forthem and their new duties, and for the coZlege as it grows'.

How wonderful the weather has been! It really gives you the "itch" to getout and dig and work. JeAry has the garden in anci many things are coming upnicely. We ended up digging up more tfian we orcginaZZy had planned - but it kindof gAows on you'. Mom says we need an acre or a truck patch. If you all come,we'U at least have vegetables (I hope). Has anyone ever tasted blacM.mdiih^?We haven't but saw the seed and were fasctnated by it - so guess what - yep, heplanted some'.

As for my back, about all J can say that I'm still hanging in there, andas the doctor said, each day I can avoid further surgery is hopefully my gain. Please continue to pray that I can get by without it.

Tim is one happy boy'. If you AecaZZ, I toZd you they had tAonsfenred him toGoodsaiZZ Tndiistries and maybe they would assign him in due time to the bicycleret^aiA division. Well, today was that day. How he loves woAking with his hand6, }They will teach him o^tkeJi AepaiA woAk too. He is also adveAtlsing and doing some 'minoA bike AepaiA, and service and new bike assembly at home, J tell you herides his bike 10 miles each way to and from work? I assure you he has a "great"appetite. When he told me I didn't give him enough food, I jokingly said, "Well,Tim, i can't get any more in your lunch box - shaZl I fix you a picnic basket?"He said, "Sure," - and was serious',

Jf you know of a student interested in Bible College, we'd love to shareinformation of El Paso Christian College, Awarm climate, waAm southern hospitality, the culture of t^o countries, a field white unto the harvest, and peopZe whocare. Send the names and we'ZZ respond.

Oh, how grateful we are to you for your prayers. How much we look foAward toyour letters and onZy the Lord knows how we thank you for your financial help'.

Feb/LuoAy 22-25 is ouA "fllssion to Women" with VoJiothy Kei^teA at the tast^ideChAistidh ChuAeh. ' my how close it is getting. We have worked hand, and theAe oJie ^tiMmany things to do - but we'll be n.eady and anticipating a gKeaX. spinitual strengtheningion. all 0^ OA.

''' Happenings at the' Coltege oAe teAAl^cl EnnolOnent is 41 students [IS {^atVtune, 26paAt-time, and about 30 in the choiA). The li}estside ChuAck is changing minlste^, so anextension cloiS was not lined up theAe this semesteA. The choiA has been wonking hand, and 'X6 basy. The video tape (^as made ^on T.V. and will be shown 4 times. They mde itin'two sections, 15 minutes 0^ patniotlc music and then. 30 mlnatiis {^oA the cantata, "SoSend I Voa." The camenaman also made a nemneel 0|S the okoix. It showed ctose-ups oivoaIous ones as we weAe jast singing - shots ojJ the piaYiist, a close-up 0^ the bicentennial matenial ased in the ascots, etc. At the end fie came in close on JenAydlAecting and he jast put his hand night in ^nont o^ the camena. It was a good laugh. This was gAeat publicity ioA the college. Each section will be given Mice. We jouAneyedto Tnuth OA Consequences on Jan. 25th and pnesented the cantatx ^oA the chuAch theAe,and -die attendance pushed -t/ie walls oat. T-t was a glonious day o^ fellowship - and thexfed us in abundant fashion (as usual!)

Coming up MaAch 5 and 6, will be a big finst foA ouA college. We will have OnCampus" Days. The colZege invites the high school students of El Vaso and all oAoand meSoatiuuest to come and visit the college, enjoy classes and fan and fellowship. Also atthis time, the BooAd of Regents witC meet. The faculty wives will be pnepaning a chuck-wagon sappeA on fniday evening and bneakfast on Fniday and SatuAday monnlng. Uany willbe coming in on ThuAsday evening.

Eon many months the house which the college uses fon an office [and some classAoom]has been gnossly oveAcAowded'. Then with additional faculty coming, we deApe^uxtefoA mone space. Numenoas suggestions wene made, places looked at but nothing seemednight and money was a gAeat factoA'. One day it was noticed that tfye..people in the housedOiectly acnoss the stneet weAe moving out. Vnesident Bill Mongan went Immediately tosee about it. The end nesulX. was we acquired a veAy yUce 3 bedAoom, Itvingnoom, kitchen, and loAge paneled den hoase foA $100 pen month'. This seemed unbetievablel Ap.^ce of$200 a month would have seemed moAe nealisic'. How gn.eat an asset this is. All thefaculty have offices - and the den in the nm hoase wiU be a lovely, laAge, and rtuchmoAe adequate libnany. How God leads and answeAS pnayeAS.

HexX, a stnong possibility exists foA a donation of 50 acjies of pnnpentjy foA thecollege. This would be a gift of $350,0001 I will not go into details - we just askyouA feAvent pAayens fon all of us in the- dnxioas days of waiting and that this tAemen-dous possibility may become a nealityl
