Founded in 1896, Beijing Jiaotong University (a.k.a. Northern Jiaotong University hereinafter referred to as BJTU) is a national key university under the direct administration of China’s Ministry of Education and is among the first universities qualified for doctorate and master’s degree conferral, listed in China’s “Project 211” and to accept students of Chinese Government Scholarship. It leads in information and management disciplines and features traffic and transportation science and technology. BJTU has 2,842 faculty members, including 1,668 teachers, among whom there are 286 professors and 588 associate professors. In more than 1 century’s history, BJTU educated over 100,000 talents for the society. At present, 13,971 undergraduates, 2,094 doctoral candidates and 5,433 master candidates study on campus. It has 8 national key disciplines, which are Traffic and Transportation Planning and Management, Traffic Information Engineering and Control, Communication and Information Processing, Information and Signal Processing, Industrial Economics, Road and Railway Engineering, Transportation Tools Application Engineering and Bridge and Tunnel Engineering. It offers 60 doctoral programs, 120 master programs and 4 professional degrees including MBA, MAcc, MEng and JM programs. BJTU’s features and strengths are mainly in the areas of information, control, detection, tunnel and underground engineering and management, including train operation control and safety technology, wireless communication and wireless application technology, structural strength and fatigue technology of locomotive, railway vehicle and electricity multiple unit, train control network, electric traction and electric drive, key technology of detection and on-board detection, operation organizing technology of railway transportation train, railway passenger transportation organizing technology, organizing technology of railway cargo and special cargo transportation, electromagnetic interference and detection technology, bridge, tunnel and underground engineering technology, railway traffic line engineering technology, railway traffic information technology, railway traffic fundamental information, support for decision-making in railway operation and management. The scientific research fruits are applied in many major projects, such as Tibet Railway and high speed railway construction. With “Smile, Care, Quality and Pleasure” as the aim of its international education, BJTU is dedicated to its brand of international education by good service and professional quality. It offers preparatory, bachelor, master and doctoral programs in the fields of engineering, management, economy, science, arts, law, and philosophy.         English-taught Programs Master Programs (3 years）1.       Software Engineering: The program covers the academic areas of Software Engineering Technology, Software Service Engineering, Embedded Applied Software Engineering and Digital Media Technology. It combines theory study and engineering practice. Based on enterprises, the engineering practice adopts the school-enterprise joint education mode and double tutors system. 2.         IMBA: BJTU’s School of Economics and Management is one of the earliest cradles for senior management talents in Chinese modern history. In recent years, its MBA program leads on “List of the Most Influential MBA of China”. Opened in 2000, IMBA program adopts international professors and courses and accumulates rich teaching experience. Besides other master candidate’s requirements, applicants must have at least 2 years working experience.
