LONDON FILM FESTIVAL 2010
The London Film Festival is the UK’s largest public film event, screening over 300 films from 60 countries.
The festival, the LFF, currently in its 53rd year, is held every year in the second half of October by the British Film Institute. The Festival presents selected new films from the full spectrum of world cinema, and a selection of recently restored archive films with an extensive schedule of industry and public forums, education events, lectures and celebrity interviews.

The London Film Festival does not have a strong logo and
has not really been branded. Here are some examples of
various London film festivals that do not have distinctive
logo or eye-catching design.
Researching previous posters for the LFF, the most
commonly used symbol is the film reel, this is something I
plan to avoid using as I feel it is too obvious and a cliche.
I particularly like this poster from 2004 using spotlights as a
motif, so I want to incorporate this into my own poster
design.
Researching spotlight as a logo there are many examples,
mainly for theatre companies and dance studios, as a whole
they are pretty basic and uninspiring.
These are some initial sketches for a logo using a spotlight.
When there are three round spotlights, the motif resembles
the BFI logo, I think this association helps show the link
between the two events.
Although I like the relationship between a triple spotlight
and the BFI logo, I prefer the single spotlight so this is
what I am going to work with to create my poster.
I want to incorporate the London skyline into my poster
design to make a direct visual link to
London.
I have decided to keep my poster simple and black and
white, to add a nostalgic feel of classic British film.
