Ms. Bledsoe’s End of the Year Social Studies Project

1. Teaching a Lesson & 2. Designing a Board Game

• Objective: Working in groups (up to 5 people), your task is to design one educational lesson and board game based on one of the following topics:– China (Chapter 14)– Japan (Chapter 15)– The Early Americas (Chapter 16)– Enlightenment and Revolution (Chapter 21)– Revolutions and Nations (Chapter 22)– Global Challenges (Chapter 23)

• This will be an in-class project, meaning you will be given time in class to work on your board game and PowerPoint. Thus, you must bring all materials needed to complete your board game to class, daily. You will have several tasks to complete in-class, which will have due dates. Everyone in the group must have a specific job, known to the teacher. We will play these games in-class after discussing the material; thus, your game MUST work properly.

Requirements1. PowerPoint

– Contain important information from your chapter– Include information students will need to be successful while

playing your game2. Colorful Game Board

– Original Title– Equipment (Game pieces, cards, board etc.)

• At least 25 Cards or Questions (with correct answers)– Typed Game Instructions

• Remember to include– Object of Game: Decide how the game is won.– Equipment: What are the necessary supplies needed to play the

game?– Set Up: How do you set up the board before play? How do you decide

who takes the first turn?– Rules of Play: How does a player move around the board? Are there

penalties for wrong answers? How many players can play?– List of Trivia Questions: What are the trivia questions and answers

used in your game? The information must be assessed in some way while playing the game.

3. Storage: You must provide a box or bag to keep your materials in. I will not provide this. You may not leave materials in my class without proper storage.

• Use your textbook for academic information used within your game.

• Your final product should be neat and project QUALITY (if you do not understand what this means, please ask).
