FAR AWAY José González I liked this song so much for a few reasons. Such as how the only main instrument is a guitar and how this creates a sombre haunting tone. Literally the song is about a goal or place that someone has been heading towards for a long time and has had to endure a lot of suffering, whilst the final goal is in fact still so far away. Hence the title. My idea for the actual plot of the video would be that a boy, around our age would be walking home, at night, and upon getting home is set upon by a parent/guardian. Shouting and eventually hitting him. He would run into his room possibly crying before slamming the door. *Light could be used here as a metaphor for his safe place or something* We would then see him go to sleep with a picture of Elvis or something to represent his goal of being a musician. He would then run away from home, taking the picture with him as a reminder of his aim. We can use long shots of him alongside train tracks or walking alone through forests etc… Somehow he would come upon an old guitar, perhaps he stole it? Giving the pretence that he is in fact the man singing the song due to the fact the main instrument is a guitar. He could then be found and brought home or something, hitting home the moral of the song and how far away his goals are. And then perhaps a shot of him playing a guitar as an old man, my granddad is coming down from Newcastle soon and he plays bass guitar so we could use him and we wouldn’t even need to show his face. The song is 4:40 long so we have a lot of time to present this story even with liberal use of ‘fade to blacks’. Pros Absolutely no dialogue is needed Faces can be avoided a lot of the time so acting isn’t a massive concern Locations are easy to find in and around Poole and even the school, such as the forest area near the main road.

José González

I liked this song so much for a few reasons.

We can use long shots of him alongside train tracks or walking alone through forests etc…

Somehow he would come upon an old guitar, perhaps he stole it? Giving the pretence that he is in fact the man singing the song due to the fact the main instrument is a guitar. He could then be found and brought home or something, hitting home the moral of the song and how far away his goals are. And then perhaps a shot of him playing a guitar as an old man, my granddad is coming down from Newcastle soon and he plays bass guitar so we could use him and we wouldn’t even need to show his face. The song is 4:40 long so we have a lot of time to present this story even with liberal use of ‘fade to blacks’.

Pros • Absolutely no dialogue is needed• Faces can be avoided a lot of the time so acting isn’t a massive concern• Locations are easy to find in and around Poole and even the school, such

as the forest area near the main road.

BARCELONA George Ezra

This song has far more instruments in it than the previous one, presenting both opportunity and challenge aka a ‘Problortunity’ Barcelona encourages to dream of warm and carefree open-air nights. Serenading with a bluesy tune.

I personally don’t have a great idea of where to go with this song. It has a very happy, wistful tone. Almost sleepy, it would probably involve a lot of sweeping vistas over cosy towns and sunset. Perhaps a camping trip is in order? The song only lasts a little over 3 minutes, allowing us to get away with potentially having a shorter story. However, this would mean that more focus and effort would have to go into the shooting and subsequent editing of the film….

Pros • Shorter song time allows for a

shorter film. • More landscape shots rather than

acting and dialogue is needed
