ADDENDUM NO. 1 Bidders on this project are hereby notified that this Addendum shall be attached to and made a part of the above named project identified as RFB # 18-09-1093, dated September 18, 2018. The following additions, deletions, modifications, or clarifications shall be made to the appropriate sections of the Contract Documents and Drawings. These items shall have the full force and effect as the Contract Documents and Drawings and cost involved shall be included in the bid prices. A1-3 Section 05 12 00 – Structural Steel Framing a. Add new paragraph 20 below to 1.2 – A.

“20. ATSM A380, Standard Practice for Cleaning, Descaling, and Passivation of Stainless Steel Parts, Equipment, and Systems.”

b. Add new paragraph B below to 2.3. “B. Descaling: Descale and passivate the framing members via chemical descaling (pickling) in conformance with ASTM A380 prior to shipment.”

c. Add new paragraph 4 below to 3.2 – E. “4. Post-installation, remove surface contaminants from the framing in conformance with ASTM A380.”

DRAWING REVISIONS: A1-4 Drawing G-2 – Site Plan

a. Delete this sheet and replace it with the attached revised sheet. The location of the boat access area south of the dam has been added to the plan.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS: A1-5 Q: Will BRA provide the estimated construction budget?

A: BRA does not intend to provide the Engineer’s estimated construction cost.

A1-6 Q: How much notice to evacuate the work area would BRA give in the need

for a gate release? A: Per Specification 01 35 00 – 1.01 – B – 3, BRA will notify the contractor

“as soon as reasonably possible if gate operations are expected.” For rain


events upstream of the dam, BRA generally would be able to provide 24 hour notice of an upcoming gate operation. For rain events at the lake, shorter notice would be likely. As such, the contractor is reminded of 01 35 00 – 1.01 – B – 5’s requirement of having personnel on call at all times.

A1-7 Q: What are the downstream water elevations for the various gate release

scenarios? A: Tailwater elevations adjacent to the Powerhouse and work area for

various gate releases has been added to Specification 01 35 00 via this addendum. Refer to previous section of the addendum.

A1-8 Q: For boat or barge access, where will the contractor be allowed to enter the

dam tailwater? A: Boat access is possible via the boat ramp off the south access road, but

access will be dependent on the tailwater elevations and boat configuration since the area around the access ramp is shallow. See revised Drawing G-2 attached to this addendum for location of the boat access area.

A1-9 Q: Can the contractor set a crane adjacent to the work area?

A: Yes, the contractor will be allowed to set a crane in the North Contract Work Area shown on Drawing G-2.

A1-10 Q: Will the contractor be allowed to use BRA’s small barge?

A: No, the contractor should price the project assuming they will provide their own boat or barge if needed.
