Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart. (II Corinthians 4:1)

A mother and her 33-year-old daughter attended our New Focus Class several years ago. From that day forward, they both developed a good relationship with our people involved with different aspects of the Mercy Ministry. The mom even spent time as a volunteer at the New Direction Ministry Thrift Store.

Last November, she called me to tell me she was in Cooper Green Hospital. Once a week she would call and we would pray together. Over the next several weeks, she began to decline and then went to be with her Savior after Christmas. The daughter contacted us with a need to help with the cost of the funeral. The Mercy Deacons chose to join with another church to assist with the funeral expenses. The daughter, her brother and her aunt came to talk with me in my office. During our discussion, the Bridge to Life was presented. I was amazed to watch the Holy Spirit bring both the daughter and the son to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ!

God, in His mercy, commissions us to share the Good News, and thus be used by Him to call people to salvation. I am so amazed how our deeds of mercy open a wide door for the presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! By the way…the mom’s prayers were answered.

As we read in II Corinthians, all these things keep us from “losing heart.”
