Print the template for the ice cream scoops and the cone; cut along the outline of each shape. 2. Turn the shirt inside-out and fuse the INSPIRA ® Fusible No Show Mesh behind where you want the ice cream appliqué. 3. Turn the shirt right-side out, place the template shapes on the shirt, and trace around them with a marking pen. PREPARING THE APPLIQUÉ FABRIC: 1. Trace the template shapes on the paper side of the INSPIRA ® Fusible Paper Back Web with your pen. Make sure you space these shapes at least 1-2” apart when tracing. 2. Roughly cut around these shapes-there is no need to cut exactly along the lines at this time. 3. Fuse the webbing to the appropriate fabric. To fuse the web, place the web paper side up and iron the shape on the wrong side of the fabric. 4. Cut along the traced line of the paper. 5. Peel the paper from the fused pieces. ATTACHING THE APPLIQUÉ PIECES: 1. Place the appliqué cone in the traced outline, web side down and fuse in place. 2. To add texture to the cone, sew multiple straight stitches at an angle. Note: To make the spacing in between lines consistent, use the Clear 1/4” Piecing Foot. 3. Attach the Clear Open Toe Foot when doing the satin stitch for the appliqué. 4. Use the Tapering Program to create the perfect cone bottom. Start stitching 1-2mm above the tip of the cone using a 30° taper at the beginning of the stitch and no taper at the end. Note: We decreased the width of the satin stitch to 4.0 for the appliqué. Tip: To make sure you can master the cone taper, it helps to practice on a scrap piece of fabric first 5. Only use a satin stitch along the 2 sides of the cone, do not use a satin stitch along the top of the cone shape. 6. Place the appliqué bottom scoop in the traced outline, web side down and fuse in place. This will overlap the cone appliqué. 7. Using a 4.0 width satin stitch, stitch along the outside edge of the bottom scoop starting where the traced line from the top scoop meets the bottom scoop, along the bottom, stopping at the other side where the top scoop traced line meets the bottom scoop. 8. Place the appliqué top scoop in the traced outline, web side down and fuse in place. This will overlap the bottom scoop appliqué. 9. Use a 4.0 satin stitch to go along the entire outside edge of the top scoop. Tip: We started at the top of the scoop because it is easier to match your satin stitch when the satin stitch pattern is less complicated. 10. Turn your shirt right side out. Peel away the excess fusible web from outside the appliqué area and trim. TIME TO ENJOY SOME ICE CREAM!
