BRITANNIA YACHTS
THE VISION
From an early age, I was fortunate enough to sail aboard some truly classic yachts from a bygone era. I dreamed of owning just such a yacht and now, with Discovery Yachts Group, that dream will be realised.
Thanks to the talents of Paul Spooner Yacht Design, we are developing a practical portfolio of classic yachts with all the benefits modern technology has to offer. I will take great personal pride in seeing Britannia Yachts take to the water.
The Discovery Yachts Group will produce a range of modern classic yachts in the traditional style of the 1920/30s. The difference will be the incorporation of modern design ideas and production techniques that are associated with the Discovery Yachts Group modern fleet of cruising yachts.
With larger, lighter and more spacious interiors, due to the Ron Holland designed hulls, coupled with classic styling and traditionally finished joinery, Britannia will be a yacht of great beauty as well as practicality. Classic lines but with the same livability of our contemporary long distance cruising yachts and the same super yacht systems used on all our larger yachts.
Sean Langdon | CEO of Discovery Yachts Group
The dream of many yachtsmen and women is to own a classic wooden sailing yacht. In reality, the maintenance of a wooden classic is both time consuming, limiting the time spent on the water, and a real financial burden. To eliminate most of this, Discovery Yachts Group will be using the in-house lamination department who are pioneering a new deck laminating process. This incorporates wooden veneer,
so all Britannia Yachts will require no more maintenance than any other yacht from our fleet.
The first new classic in our portfolio will be the Britannia 74. The ambition for the Britannia fleet is:

In everything we do, and in everything we make, our guiding principle is the pursuit of perfection
Below decks, the Britannia’s elegant interior is reminiscent of many 1920/30s classics. Her off-white bulkheads and high gloss mahogany furnishings, with flush overhead hatches, will bathe the interior with light. Our skilled joiners and cabinetmakers will craft finishes that are second to none. The saloon features separate lounge and dining areas. An offset galley and chart-come-study area will have the air of sophistication of a Mayfair gentlemen’s club. The lounge area has a wrap-around sofa and coffee table with built in hidden ice bucket for those special occasions. Up to 10 guests can be comfortably seated around the dining table, which complements the overall ambience of traditional luxury.
The dedicated chart and study area, with its button-back swivelling captain’s seat, is the perfect place to catch up on business or personal correspondence as well as plan your next voyage. An exceptionally elegant owner’s state room aft with luxury en-suite takes full advantage of the Ron Holland hull shape delivering head room and liveable space like no other yacht with such classical lines. The forward stateroom has similar sophisticated space, once again with separate shower for guests lucky enough to be staying on board.
Owner’s Suite
Saloon
Further guest accommodation can be found in the midships-double berth with en-suite facilities, once again affording astounding flexibility of accommodation with the similar levels of space and comfort.
Comfort and practicality is paramount on this vessel. There is even a laundry/utility area with washer dryer and storage to ensure comfortable cruising.
The galley has been designed based on our vast experience of long distance cruising yachts. It includes the space, facilities and practicality at sea to produce the highest standard of on-board catering.
A separate crew cabin with day heads and walk-in engine room complete the internal layout of the Britannia 74.
