Crunch&Sip
Kids love the crunchy outer and juicy inner of cucumber. Most kids
take cucumber cut into sticks or slices for Crunch&Sip. However whole baby
cucumbers, or a whole or half Lebanese cucumber, or section of a Telegraph
cucumber can be great to munch away at during Crunch&Sip and requires less
preparation.
Cherry or grape tomatoes are an easy, popular vegetable to take for
Crunch&Sip. They are fun and easy to grow too. Let them ripen on the
plant or at room temperature. Refrigerating before they are ripe will reduce
the flavor and ability to ripen to their full potential.
Red and yellow capsicums are sweeter than the green variety. A medley
of different coloured capsicum slices makes a fun traffic light themed
Crunch&Sip snack. Baby capsicums are also great to pack whole
for your child.

P&C UPDATE
6 November 2015
The Week in Review
P&C Update
The final P&C meeting took place on Tuesday night.
Over a celebratory chicken and champagne dinner
(perks of the job?), the ‘engine room’ of the school
community put the pedal to the metal and feverishly
completed planning and discussions surrounding
events, budgets, school uniforms and projects
scheduled to take effect for the remainder of this and
into the start of next year.
On behalf of the president, the P&C remain
immensely grateful for the continued efforts of the
dedicated few with the heart and desire to help, or be
involved with the betterment of our school. You know
who you are….. thank you.
The P&C particularly acknowledges the exemplar
efforts of our committee members who are leaving
BPS at the end of this year. Mel, Marty and Ian have
supported the P&C in various roles over many years
and will be sorely missed.
Sensory Garden
Member for Monaro, Mr John Barilaro’s much
anticipated Sensory Garden donation was received
this week. Our intrepid sensory green-thumbed
gardeners are champing at the bit to complete this
fantastic initiative – shortly to be completed for all
BPS students to look, touch smell and taste (although
avoid the bees, they are a bit crunchy….)
Playground Update
The P&C coffers have swelled even more with the
Veolia Mulwaree Trust Fund (VMT) playground grant
confirmed this week. Despite angry protests by Stage
3 students demanding a Wet ‘n’ Wild style theme
park, the School has adopted a more conservative
approach, with construction expected to commence
in the New Year.
Our thanks to Marty, Tom, Ingrid, Lucy and Tracy for
all their hard work.
The Week(s) Ahead
Bush Dance
Like circle work at a B&S, this Friday’s (27
November) BPS Bush Dance is set to enthral
onlookers and participants alike. The band is set,
instruments tuned, the BBQ and popcorn machine
primed, the sausages made, soft drinks cooled. The
only thing left is the attendees.
Second only in popularity to a Biggest Loser
makeover, the Bush Dance promises enthralling
entertainment – whilst being able to enjoy a delicious
sausage sandwich. Live music, exotic food, evocative
dancing – and popcorn will be the order of the night,
starting at 5pm. Do your self (and the School) a
favour and join us in this Aussie tradition at the
School for a night of fine music, finer dancing, and a
culinary tour de force.
In addition to food and drinks, table centres, raffle
tickets, hay bales, and an array of opinions will be
offered at very reasonable prices. Bring your wallet
and support the School.
Volunteers for the BBQ, drink and popcorn stands
are keenly sought.
Those interested in assisting with the event can email
Sam at the P&C email address*.
Uniform Shop
The BPS Uniform Shop remains open every Friday
from 2.45pm – 3.45pm. Be the first with the latest and
check out the latest 2016 BPS fashions from Pierre
Cardin, Taro Cash and La Croix.
Cash, cheque or electronic funds transfer accepted.
Volunteers for 2016 are keenly sought. Those
interested in assisting can email Trudy at the P&C
email address*.
Thought for the week:
Do not argue with an idiot. He/she will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
