COUGAR TAILSCOUGAR TAILS
Tuesday will mark the 24th all-time meeting between the two programs and their first since the 2014 NCAA Tournament. BYU is 9-14 against the Ducks in a series that dates back to Feb. 22, 1909. Tuesday will also mark the third time in their past four contests that the game will take place at a NBA Arena. The two schools played at the now demolished BMO Harris Bradley Center in the opening round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament after playing at the Delta Center (now Vivint Arena) back in 2011.
• The Cougars are shooting 78.6 percent (11-of-14) from the charity stripe in the final two minutes of the game so far this season. Te’Jon Lucas was a perfect 4-of-4 on freebies in BYU’s win over San Diego State on Friday evening in Provo. • BYU is 2-5 against ranked teams under Pope including a win over then-No. 2 Gonzaga on Senior Day in 2020. • With BYU’s win on Friday night, Pope improved to 46-15 overall and 27-3 at home during his time in Provo.
NOT HIS FIRST RODE0NOT HIS FIRST RODE0 Head coach Mark Pope will coach at the Moda Center, home of the Portland Trailblazers, for the first time but is no stranger to the venue as he played there four times during his NBA career. He averaged 5.5 minutes per game in the Rose City scoring his only points a member of the MIwaukee Bucks on November 30, 2001.
