Fall Arts & Crafts FairSaturday, October 209:00am-3:30pm, Crossroads Bible Church
Fair goers stroll through to shop for souvenirs, birthdays, wed-dings, special occasions, family, and of course, for themselves, finding treasures that can only be discovered once a year, at the Fall Fair. Shoppers will find a large variety of handmade arts and crafts, with nearly 100 participating artisans. Vendors will be selling everything from jewelry to furnishings, pottery to sculp-ture, wall art to wind chimes, and, of course, food!

Atomic City Spy Tour Self-GuidedWhere there are secrets, there are spies. Visit historic sites around Los Alamos where the atomic spies lived, worked and played. This self-guided tour can be taken at your own pace.

Homestead TourSelf-Guided Driving TourImagine yourself back in a time of isolated log buildings, fields planted with pinto beans, wagons laden with produce—every-day life for the homesteaders who lived here before the dawn of the nuclear age that brought Los Alamos to international at-tention. This driving tour will introduce you to seven sites that indi-cate where 17 of the homestead families established their farms.

Manhattan ProjectNational Historical Park
Guided Ranger Talks & ToursStop at the Park’s Visitor Center for a free Ranger talk and film, a Park Service Passport stamp, tour maps to Park assets, including Ashley Pond Park, the Los Alamos History Museum Campus, and Bradbury Science Museum. Ranger-guided talks of downtown Los Alamos historic sites are available daily.
Virtual Tour App and GameTake a virtual tour by downloading the “Los Alamos: the Secret City of the Manhattan Project” free app. The app has an aug-mented reality feature to use at locations in the historic down-town, as well as an interactive experience that places the user in the shoes of Los Alamos’ first scientists. The app provides a virtual tour of the assets of the Manhattan Project, including those “be-hind the fence” at the Los Alamos National Laboratory!nps.gov/mapr
Los Alamos Nature CenterPassport to the Pajarito Plateau Part I and IIA fun program to get people outside, exploring our beautiful trails. Pick up your passport at the Los Alamos Nature Center and start hiking! Make a crayon rubbing from the special post on each trail to “stamp” your passport, then bring it back after you’ve completed 2, 5, 8, 12, and all 16 hikes for great prizes you can use on your next adventure. losalamosnature.com
Guided Walking ToursDaily Monday - SaturdayThe 1.5-hour guided tours include information on the Ancestral Pueblo people, homesteading, the Los Alamos Ranch School, the Manhattan Project, and post-war Los Alamos, as well as vis-its to Fuller Lodge, the homestead-era Romero Cabin and, of course, the sculptures of General Leslie Groves and Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer for a photo opportunity.

Bandelier National MonumentYear of the Bird ActivitiesSeptember - Turkey Vulture & Hazards October - Great-Horned Owl & Global Bird Day and Birdblitz November - Wild Turkey & Social Media Photo Contest 2018 is the 100th anniversary of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Bandelier joins others in celebrating the importance of birds in the world. Park staff encourage everyone to visit the National Geographic website for Year of the Bird. Readers are offered the chance to “Count Me In” to receive monthly suggestions for “easy actions that can be taken to make a difference for birds and for the planet.” Bandelier will be providing related monthly activities, special press releases and Facebook posts.www.nps.gov/bandwww.nationalgeographic.org/projects/year-of-the-bird
1000 Books Before KindergartenOngoing ProgramThis is a free, fun program that encourages caregivers to share 1,000 books with their children before they enter kindergarten. You can run the program at your pace and earn prizes for every hundred books you complete. Cover to CoverOngoing Program3-6th grade students are challenged to join our community book club. Read all 12 titles on the selected list and then meet to discuss them, both at school clubs and at the public library. Events for Cover to Cover begin in 2019, but you can start read-ing anytime. Manhattan Project National Historical ParkOne of the few National Parks that focuses on American science, technology and industry during WWII, the Manhattan Project sites interpret the social and cultural life of the individuals and families that lived and worked in the “secret cities,” as well as the structures associated with the research and production of the atomic bomb.
Bandelier National MonumentBandelier provides an opportunity to explore Ancestral Pueblo dwellings, broad mesas and steep-walled canyons where ladders provide access to small-carved dwellings built in natural recesses, as well as 33,000 acres of designated wilderness ranging from 5,000 feet to 10,000 feet above sea level, including a wide variety of outdoor activities. You can also explore the Bandelier Museum Exhibit, where Ancestral Pueblo pottery, tools and artifacts of daily life are on display.
Valles Caldera National PreserveThe Valles Caldera offers 54+ miles of trails and 30+ miles of trout streams. There is managed public access for many activities, including elk and turkey hunting, fishing, horse-back riding, hiking, biking, van tours, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, environmental education, and photographic adventures.
