You have now graduated from encampment and are a member of the Cadet Training Group.
The encampment training standard is set high, but you met the challenge. Like the 10,000 CTG cadets who went before, you knowthe importance of attention to detail, leadership, honor, teamwork and pride in a job well done.
We congratulate all the cadets of the 2005 California-Nevada Joint Encampment. During the past week you advanced your educa-tion and training and are better cadets and future American leaders for it. We look forward to watching your continued success in
the future.Virginia M. Nelson, Colonel, CAP

Day Three saw classes on Attitude &Discipline, USAF Airpower, Civil Air Pa-trol Structure and Operations, and moreFlight Training Activities.
The Basic Cadets slowly began to growaccustomed to morning PT (physicaltraining) well before sunrise, in the coolCentral Coast morning air!
For some unlucky Basics, all that march-ing in new boots proved to be a recipefor disaster, or at least, some seriousblisters! Fortunately, medic TSgt Menke(on loan to the encampment courtesy of the California Air National Guard) was onthe scene with blister treatments ready. Some of the Basics learned rsthand thatMoleskin is your friend!

DAY FIVE
Without a doubt, Day Five was one of thehighlights of encampment. As if orienta-tion ights in a California Army NationalGuard CH-47 Chinook helicopter werentenough, Wednesday also brought smallarms familiarization training under theguidance of quali ed military instruc-tors, giving everyone in the group theopportunity to re an M16A2 ri e on the25 meter range at Camp SLO. Low-level

A battle-hardened legion was promoted to
the rank of Centurion based on at least sixteen
years of combat service and valor at the point of
the spear. They were able to carry ninety pounds
of equipment at least twenty miles per day and
train under the harshest of conditions. They
held ultimate sway over the welfare of every
man who served in his hundred-man century.
