It has been a truly successful year and I look forward to the continued support. It has been a busy but fabulous year. I would like to sincerely thank everyone for their support and for working together to make Camboon PS special for our students. I think together as a school community we have worked hard to learn, show what we have learned and achieved some good results. I believe there is always room for improvement and we already have plans for the next three years with a new Business Plan that will be released next year. A great school like ours doesn’t just happen, it takes a lot of work and many people. I love going into classrooms and seeing the amazing work teachers are doing with students. Farewell As those of you who were at the end of year assembly last week would already know, this will be my final year at Camboon PS, having won a Principal’s position at Creaney Primary School in Kingsley. It is with so much sadness that I leave this beautiful school where I have felt so at home from the minute I arrived here 9 years ago. I have loved every minute of working with such an outstanding team of people and a gorgeous school community of supportive parents and beautiful students; I can assure you, I will miss everyone terribly. I wish all of our Camboon families a safe and happy holiday and hope to pop in to see everyone in the future. With lots of love to everyone, from Ms Monamy.

2018 Class Lists These will be displayed in the assembly area on Thursday 14

December from 2pm. The class lists have been created

based-on current student enrolment numbers for 2018 and are subject to change. Staff have spent time creating the lists based-on their knowledge of the students and taking into account student learning needs, behaviour, friendships and social emotional needs. Staff are careful to ensure that a range of students are in each class and this allows students opportunities to develop new friendships. All written requests were considered and we ask that parents are supportive and react positively to the class lists. All of our teachers are wonderful teachers and students will still get to play with their friends at recess and lunch times should they not be in the same class. Teaching your child/our students to be resilient and flexible is a vital skill. I look forward to your support in accepting our decisions based on educational needs. In conjunction with class lists being displayed, the P&C Uniform Shop will also have a special opening on Thursday 14 December from 2.00pm—2.45pm. P&C Uniform Shop Opening hours Tuesday 12 December 8.40am—9.30am Thursday 14 December 2.00pm—2.45pm Monday 29 January 9.00am—1.00pm Tuesday 30 January 1.00pm—3.00pm Uniform queries can be directed to Danneeka: [email protected] Library reminder Please ensure all books are returned to the Library before school finishes on Thursday

Medication A reminder to parents of students who have medication such as epipens, to please collect these from the office on the last day of school. We do not like for these to be kept at school over the holiday period. Are you going on an extended holiday? If you are going on an extended holiday and won’t be returning to school on Wednesday 31 January, 2018, please submit this in writing to the school office, including your child’s name, year level, reason for absence and school start date. This is very important for the school census scheduled in February 2018. Sustainability Serpent Garden Beds The Humanities team has been working on creating sustainable garden beds this year where ancient Aboriginal traditions meet western practices. Students will be responsible for the upkeep of the new gardens as they learn about how the Aboriginal culture used sustainable practices in ancient times and how we can apply these practices to current sustainability. The garden beds would not have been possible without the help and support of a number of people and businesses. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people for their time and donations. PALS Department of Aboriginal Affairs Ken Griffiths Dee Vandervoet Soil World Kirsty Grieves Vina Zhang Bunnings Morley Rodney Hardingham Maria Santana Chad Lyon and Earth Bound Tania Pesce Luljeta Toska St Barbe Grove Nursery formerly Men of Trees Lisa James Mel Whyte Mike Murphy Michael Hyde From Tammy Hardingham & Karen Denning FlexiBuzz Please remember to update communication group subscriptions to match your child’s new class for 2018. Chaplain’s Corner—By Liz Tamby Rajah The Busy Season Here it is, the busiest time of year. School ending, Christmas arriving, there’s no denying it is a busy time. Can I encourage you, in the midst of it all, to breathe. Take time to stop and appreciate the beauty of the season. Don’t focus on having the perfect Christmas, or the best holiday dinner yet, or even getting that perfect gift. Instead, take time to pause and appreciate all that you have. For some it was a struggle, for others it was the best year. Whatever it was for you and your family recognise you made it. You did it!!! As you enter into a new year soon, my hope for you and your family is that 2018 will be filled with lots of love and all the things that bring you joy. Merry Christmas and the happiest New Year!
