Principal Janice Cuculoska Associate Principals— Tanya Dique & Tania Pesce Semester 2 Term 3 Volume 12 18 July 2018 Im back I am thrilled to finally be back at school. I have missed being here so much. I am slower than before but recovering a bit more each day. Hopefully it wont be too long before Im runningaround again. I sincerely thank Mrs Dique for being an amazing principal and keeping me in the loop with important things but overall she just kept the school running without fuss. I felt very confident in her abilities. I sincerely thank all staff who were extremely supportive during this time and as always were very professional, hardworking and caring. I sincerely thank all students and families for the many wonderful cards, letters, pictures and well wishes I received. I felt very much loved. Once again, it shows what a wonderful school we are and how much we care and support each other. I have certainly learned to celebrate the important things in life and not worry or get upset about unimportant things. I look forward to a great term and seeing students doing their best in all areas. Semester 2 Term 3 Volume 12 18 July 2018

I’m back I am thrilled to finally be back at school. I have missed being here so much. I am slower than before but recovering a bit more each day. Hopefully it won’t be too long before I’m ‘running’ around again.

Staff changes Congratulations to Mrs Tania Pesce who has been appointed as Associate Principal for the next 18 months. Welcome to Miss Brooke Purdy who is teaching in Room 3 for the remainder of this year. Janice Cuculoska

Parent Teacher Interviews Thanks to those parents who make time to meet with their children’s teachers when requested. These meetings are an invaluable part of our communication strategy. If you do make an appointment to see your child’s teacher, but you can’t make it for any reason, please call the school, or email the teacher to let them know. As you know, teachers spend most of their time teaching, and any time out of the classroom is spent planning, preparing and assessing. This time is very precious and when parents don’t turn-up at the planned time, it can create extra work for teachers. Your assistance with this is appreciated.

Comet Autism Assistance Dog – Comet As mentioned in our last newsletter, one of our Pre-primary students, Adam, will have an autism assistance dog bringing him to and from school on each day that he attends. Comet will be coming to school for the first time on Tuesday 31 July and Friday 3 August. On these days he will enter the school grounds with his owner, and will enter EC3 to drop Adam to class, then will exit the school grounds. Comet will not remain at school for the whole day. Comet will then attend for drop-off and pick-up 3 days a week from 13 August for the remainder of the year. Please talk to your children about Comet and tell them that he is a working dog, and it is not okay to approach him or pat him. The only person who can pat him is Adam or his handler (Adam’s mother). Comet is a highly trained dog from Guide Dogs WA, and legislation states that guide dogs should be allowed anywhere that the owner goes, except for operating theatres and certain parts of the zoo. If you have any questions about Comet attending Camboon Primary School, please contact Tanya Dique.

Book Week Activities We will be celebrating Book Week during Week 4 this term and here are some of the great things we have planned!

Incursion – 9 August On Thursday all students will attend a play that celebrates literature. More information will be sent home in a separate note.

Book Fair The P&C will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair to coincide with Book Week. Students will be able to view and purchase the books before and after school during Week 4. More information to come.

Parade 10 August Our annual Book Week Parade will be held on Friday 10 August. Classes are busy reading their chosen books and teachers will inform parents of the requirements for their parade in the coming weeks. This is always a great fun event and a celebration of literature. We hope to see as many parents/grandparents as possible!

TerraCycle Garden Challenge Please keep sending in your oral care waste for recycling and please go online to https://www.terracycle.com.au/en-AU/contests/colgategardenvoting and vote for Camboon primary School. Competition ends 31 October 2018.

*STARTING THIS TERM* Camboon Primary School has now joined the Beauty Products Recycling Program. Please send in any cosmetics packaging, hair care packaging and skin care packaging for recycling. Attached to this newsletter is a poster of accepted waste. This can be placed in the new yellow bins (not the green bins!) located in ECE3, office and Clusters 1, 2 and 3.
