On Mon, Nov 22, 2010 this
year's placement season startedat IIFM. The inaugural com-
pany was Basix. On day-zero
of placement week (Nov 22,
2010 to Nov 28, 2010) three
students got placed. After threeand half months later almost
whole batch was placed and100% placement target have
been achieved for 2009-2011
batch.
The major recruiters this sea-
son were:

more...
Many senior batch studentssaid "This year might be, pack-
age is not what we expected
but, if we see in terms of pro-
files and positions that the
students got, are what they
desired and better than previ-
ous year."
On similar note the scenario of
Internships this year, for PFM-
2012 batch, initially showed a
slower pace. When we asked
Internship Committee about
this they said "We have many
good Internships offers in our
hands, but, they will be uselessif people wont apply to them".
But at the end of the day what
matters is, all got some place to
go and do their SI project. The
batch of 92 (Which is now
reduced to 88) have got intern-
ship offers from various giants
in this sector. The complete
report for this year‟s scenario
will be made public by SI and
Placement committee.

On Saturday, 13th November,
2010 the Entrepreneurship
Development Cell (EDC) at
IIFM had organized one-day
entrepreneurship symposium,
“Daksha-2010: Envisionchange, Create Opportunities”.
Some of the issues that are
dealt in the summit are Micro-
finance as a tool for facilitating
inclusive growth, innovationand idea validation, resource
mobilization for entrepreneurs,
differences of the social busi-
nesses from mainstream busi-
nesses, sustaining startups or-
ganizations etc.
Mr. A. K. Mathur, CGM,
NABARD Mumbai, was the
chief guest at the summit. The
inaugural address was delivered
by Capt. A. K. Khare (IFS),
SAAC Chairperson, IIFM which was followed by a key-
note speech by Ms Rita Soni,
CEO, NASSCOM Foundation.

The key highlights of the event
were –
There will be two panel discus-
sions. The first one is called„Bridges of Transformation‟
and the second is called„Envision change, Create op-
portunities‟.
Mr. Abhishek Sinha
said,” The social entrepreneur-
ship is similar to revolution forfreedom because you are trying
to change the system of peopleat the base of the pyramid.”
Mr. Guru Arumugam
said that “The product like
simple cotton made shoe fresh-ener could sell 10 times costly
in foreign markets like Austra-
lia and Europe…. This is inno-
vation.”
Ms. Priya Naik said,“There are more than 2 million
NGOs working with a funding of more than 80 thousand
crore every year in our country,
but, where is the change?”
Mr. Anoop Kaul
said,” The micro finance sectoris right now facing a crisis and
a lot of rumors are spreading
against them but there are
many good things also to be
said about them.”
Later in the evening a Social B-
Plan competition was organ-
ized and students shortlisted
out of a huge number of na-
tional applicants presented
their social business ideas.
The Winner team wasfrom TISS, Mumbai – Krishi
Udaya (Agricultural Informa-
tion System). And they won
Rs. 30,000 as prize money.
The Runner Up team
was from NITIE, Mumbai – Honey Chain and they won Rs.
20,000 as prize money.
