          Club Members Your annual “dues are due” by January 31st.      $30 for Family     $20 for Single membership We need your dues by mid February in order for you to be in the Club Directory (the Directory includes only paid membership informa on).  The Directory will be distributed at the March 2nd mee ng. You will need to be present at the mee ng to get a Directory as they will not be mailed. 

Hello  ladies and gentlemen,  it’s the first of the year.  Now is the  me to figure out in what    direc on the club is going.  

The first and most important thing is the car show, so far we have a pre y good start. There will be several mee ngs to be sure all the bases are covered. Julius Zezima has been invaluable as a Co‐Chair to the club for his efforts.  

There are several things on the agenda to discuss this year, hope‐fully we will get it all done.  All the board mee ngs are open to the club, hopefully the last Wednesday of every month at  Tiny’s 6:00pm. If you are not on the board you must sign in. A er the board has finished, you will be recognized.

    “What are my     dues used for?”   Here’s the answer :  The Club pays for the 

Veterans’ lunches for the “Vets to Lunch” in November.  

The meat and drinks are paid by the Club for the “Fall Fling” picnic.  The Club pays 50% per person for the Christmas party in December.   Club insurance is $800 annually.  Office expenses like agenda’s for monthly mee ngs, name tag (once) 

yearly directories etc.  Included in the monies spent are the 50/50 money collected at the 

monthly Club mee ngs. 

The move is voted on at the  

monthly club mee ng.  

It’s always on a Saturday at 10:am and is 

announced via e‐mail.  Make sure your  e‐mail is up  to  date! 

$7.00 gets you the movie, a small drink 

and a small popcorn.

If you WOW ladies did not make the Christmas Luncheon, you really missed out on a great afternoon.

We had 12 ladies attend, of which 5 of these ladies were new to the group. Always fun to meet new friends. We gathered at Kay Isham's lovely home about 11:30. Thanks Kay for hosting the luncheon and having your home so festive! Everyone brought a dish to share, which as you well know, all these gals are fabulous cooks. Lots of treats abound. A short talent show starring 4 of Marilyn Bennett's grandchil-dren. Joy, Amy, Josh, and Luke. Well, we were in for such a great show, singing, reciting stories, and a rendition of the star spangled banner played by Josh. These great kids are full of

talent, great fun to start off our luncheon! Many thanks to Marilyn, Bob and their daughter, Malinda, for bringing their grandkids. Hope next year we can have them again. Thanks to all you ladies for bringing canned goods etc. for our donation to the local food bank. I know it is so appreciated this time of year. On closing, I wish all of you and your families a wonderful holiday season, filled with love and many great memories. May the New Year bring good health and happiness to each of you! TECH HINTS & TIPS

PUTTING ON A WINTER COAT By Steve Fowler

      For most of you, the season for driving your cherished classic is over, and it’s  me to put the “horse in the barn” for the winter. You might be doing some serious upgrading during the cold months (I suspect that’s why there are so many really fine rods from the northern states‐ nothing else to do in the winter), but if it’s just “pu n’ er to bed”, then you want to consider how to do that properly. A li le research turned up the following ten  ps, courtesy of buyclassiccars.com. It’s a very well cra ed list, and one thing I learned teaching school is not to reinvent the wheel.  

1.  Make sure your gas tank is full. This will reduce the amount of water that can be absorbed by the gasoline and it also slows the rate at which it turns to varnish. Use an addi ve like "Sta‐Bil", "Dry Gas" or similar. Make sure it's well mixed and run the car for a while to make sure it's in the en re fuel system. 

2.  Freezing temperatures naturally dictate that an ‐freeze be used. But even if it's not freezing, put it in. Many of the newer 'coolants' have excellent corrosion inhibitors that will help protect and lubricate your cooling system. A 50/50 an ‐freeze/water mix is fine. Again make sure to run the car so it's mixed throughout the en re system. 

3.  Change the engine oil. Dirty oil is contaminated with acids and water that can cause premature bearing failure and rust inside the engine. If the car is likely to be le  for a very long period of  me una ended, remove the sparkplugs and liberally squirt some form of 'upper‐cylinder lubricant' into the cylinders before replacing the plugs. This will help stop the piston rings from rus ng to the cylinder walls. 

4.  Make sure the Brake and Clutch master cylinders are full of brake fluid. Brake fluid can absorb water very quickly. By reducing the exposed surface area of the fluid, the water absorp on can be reduced. If you can, bleed the brake and clutch systems. It is  recommended that you do this on an annual basis anyway, to purge the system of old and possibly contaminated brake fluid. 

5.  To inhibit rust in the engine area, use a lubricant spray such as WD40 to coat all exposed metal surfaces. The vola le carrier in the WD40 will soon evaporate leaving a protec ve film on the hose clamps, coils, carb bodies etc. 'Wax‐oyl' is also good, but you'll want to hose it off at a 'car wash' in the Spring. 

6.  Wash the en re car and apply a good wax. Don't forget to clean the inside. Do this early in the day to give it plenty of  me to  thoroughly dry before pu ng it in storage. 

7.  If you have a conver ble top, leave it up and the windows and vents closed. A conver ble top can develop nasty creases when  folded for long periods, especially in cold climates. Treat Vinyl tops with Silicone or similar. Keeping the windows and vents closed keeps small creatures from entering. But buy some desiccant bags from a storage supply house 'Dry Pac' for example and place them inside the car on the floors. This will keep moisture from damaging the interior if it is damp or humid where you are. 

8.  Ensure that the trunk is clean and dry. The trunk seal is not always posi ve and some moisture can collect and condense in the inner fenders and floor. Air it out well for a day or so, then place a desiccant bag in here too before closing it up. 

9.  Finally, (and I would do this before the oil change‐SF) take the car on a good 30 minute run. This will evaporate all the moisture in the exhaust and in the engine. Then park the car with the hand brake off and either 'chock' the wheels or leave it in gear if necessary (Really picky guys o en put it up on blocks so the  res are off the deck). Over infla ng the  res can help guard against flat spots. Disconnect the ba ery. 

      The best thing to do for a stored car is to visit it once a month and take it for a short drive. This keeps everything in good shape,  preven ng things from ge ng corroded and seals drying out. At the very least have some one start it up periodically. If you are going to cover it use a proper Cloth Car Cover, not a Plas c one. If you find the concrete floor in your storage unit gets damp or 'sweats' use cat li er, or lay plas c beneath the car to prevent the condensa on from reaching your floor pans. There you have it! Hope you enjoy the winter. Take  me to think about what you’ll be doing with your pride and joy come spring.                                                                 Happy Motoring (or not) SF

My wife is missing

Husband: My wife is missing. She went shopping yesterday and has not come home... Sergeant at Police Station: What is her height? Husband: Gee, I'm not sure. A little over 5’ tall. Sergeant: Weight? Husband: Don't know. Not slim, not really fat. Sergeant: Color of eyes? Husband: Sort of brown I think. Never really noticed. Sergeant: Color of hair? Husband: Changes a couple times a year. Maybe dark brown now. I can’t remember. Sergeant: What was she wearing? Husband: Could have been pants, or maybe a skirt or shorts. I don't know exactly. Sergeant: What kind of car did she go in? Husband: She went in my truck. Sergeant: What kind of truck was it? Husband: A 2015 Ford F150 King Ranch 4X4 with eco-boost 5.0L V8 engine special ordered with manual transmission and climate controlled air conditioning. It has a custom matching white cover for the bed, which has a matching after market bed liner. Custom leather 6-way seats and "Bubba" floor mats. Trail-ring package with gold hitch and special wiring hook-ups. DVD with full GPS navi-gation, satellite radio receiver, 23-channel CB radio, six cup holders, a USB port, and four power outlets. I add-ed special alloy wheels and off-road Michelins. It has custom running boards and indirect wheel well lighting. At this point the husband started choking up. . . Sergeant: Don't worry buddy. We'll find your truck.
