Positive Behaviour Learning (PBL) This week, our school focus is: ‘Be Safe on the Grass Area; Games Court and Playground Areas.’

SWIMMING CARNIVAL

YEARS 3-6 (plus any year 2 student who is turning 8yrs old in 2019 and can swim 50m competitively)

On Tuesday 26 February, 2019, the school will be holding the Swimming Carnival at Bexley Pool located at Preddys Rd, Bexley.

This year we will be taking ALL students in years 3-6 and any student in year 2 who is turning 8years old in 2019 and can swim

50m competitively.

As this event will be held early in the new school term and the nominated, competitive events are based upon the

number of entrants, we require all entry forms by Wednesday 20 February, 2019. No late entrants will be accepted.

All students will need to be at school by 8:45am for roll call as the buses will be departing promptly at 9:00am and are expected

to attend on the day, even if they are not competing. These students will have the opportunity to participate in novelty events

and be a part of the cheer squad. Children will be expected to wear school sports uniform, a school hat and sunscreen. All

children should bring their recess, lunch, drinks, towel, swimmers and a bottle of water. Students will return to school by 3pm.

The pool canteen will be available on the day to provide snack food and drinks.

All parents are invited to attend but must make their own way to the pool and pay their pool entrance fee when they arrive. All

students are to remain in house or event areas during the carnival.

If there are any questions or you require a permission note or entry form please see the office or Mrs Hanley.

SCHOOL CHOIR

Senior Choir has started this week. It takes place on Wednesday lunchtimes in Mrs Palmer's room. It is run by Mrs Palmer and Mrs Elmir. There are still spaces available if children would like to come and try out next Wednesday. It is open to children from Years 3-6. The Senior Choir performs throughout the year at various school events and also at a night time performance at the St George Performing Arts Festival in August (date still to be announced). If children make a commitment to the choir they are expected to participate all year.

P&C News

Next P&C meeting – AGM The next meeting will be on Tuesday the 12th of March at 7pm in the staff room. This includes our Annual General

Meeting (AGM) and all executive positions will be up for re-election. The positions up for re-election are: President,

Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer.

I encourage all CPS Parents to consider standing for one of the positions. The job doesn't take too much time from a

busy work week, but I find closer involvement with my children's school very rewarding. None of these roles take

much time each month, but we can't run the P&C without them. Please consider having a go.

Finally, a HUGE THANK YOU to our executive team from 2018:

President: Amy S

Vice-Presidents: Richard J & Sharon L

Secretary: Belinda C

Treasurer: Farhana S

Class Directories All kindergarten students should have received a note about class directories. Parents who wish to connect with

other families in their child’s class can complete their details on the class directory note and put it in the collection

box in the school office any time before Friday 1st March, in week 5.

If any other classes in years 1-6 are interested in forming their own class directory, why not take the initiative to

create your own! At the Meet the Teacher nights in week 5, you could arrive with a simple table with the categories

of Name, Child’s name, Email and Phone number and ask the other parents to sign up. After the night, type up the

details and email it around to the people who signed up and viola – your very own class directory!

For example:

Parent’s Name Child’s Name Email Phone number

Contact Us If you have any suggestions or questions, please contact the P&C via email [email protected] or join our

school community Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/carltonpandc/. We have 164 members on

Facebook now and it’s a great place to stay in touch, be informed and ask questions of the P&C or fellow parents at

our school.

https://www.dominos.com.au/store/nsw-bexley-98349 THANKYOU TO OUR FRIENDS AT DOMINOS BEXLEY

Carlton Public School and the Carlton Public School P&C would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Ka and

Howard from Dominos Bexley for their kind donation of $838.00.

The cheque was received on Wednesday 7th February 2019 by Lidia Sherri on behalf of the P&C and Mr Vrachas. The

money will go towards the installation of artificial grass in our playground for the students to enjoy.

Sales were higher than average in the store due to our Dominos Doughraiser fund raiser which was held on Saturday

15th December 2018. We look forward to working with them again and also encourage all of our families to order

their pizza from Dominos Bexley! Click the link above to order online or by phone!

The St George Illawarra Dragons visit

Carlton Public School The Dragons' annual month-long pre-season community blitz continued with school visits throughout the St George

regions yesterday. Yesterday it was Carlton Public School’s turn!

We were excited to have Matt Cooper and Jacob Host join us in the hall for a presentation on resilience and self-

confidence! They also left us with all sorts of goodies! Thanks for visiting us!

PSSA Results

This year we will be publishing the PSSA results

for the round as part of our weekly Newsletter.

PSSA begins next week. This week it is important

to recognise the amazing generosity of our Jersey

Sponsors, Mr Igor and Zak Cvetkoski. On Monday

we recognised this amazing donation with

members of our senior classes wearing the

Jerseys at the K-6 Assembly. We look forward to

continuing our relationship with MKD Transcorp

for many years to come.
