OUR CHALLENGE

With a brilliant brand name to trade on and over 14,000 drawings in the business, Flowstream has the opportunity to go from strength-to-strength in the future.

We were tasked with finding the best candidate for an autonomous Technical Director role, reporting directly to the MD of the business. We had to find someone who could be responsible for the effective execution and maintenance of all Product Design activities and provide full support to the Board of Directors.

OUR CANDIDATE

We knew that the role would be very hands-on and require an individual with a smorgasbord of role related attributes: ranging from day-to-day preparation and reviewing of drawings, to strategically advising the Board on infrastructure, equipment, training and personnel needs.

The successful candidate is also expected to operate with the utmost consistency and reliability in this role, similarly to the valves the company produces.

OUR SOLUTION

A very well-rounded individual who was an expert in the field of valves with experience of working for both small and large companies and evidence of growing operations. They also had a commercial head and showed leadership qualities.

Our candidate had always brought a clear vision to his previous employments which demonstrates his capability to be a strong, strategic asset to the Board of Directors.

KNOWING OUR CLIENTS

It was clear, upon meeting their senior management team, that Flowstream are in it for the long haul. A couple of their senior-most employees have over 75 years’ experience in the valve industry between them.

Longevity and consistency are key values to the organisation and this culture is clearly represented in their work, as there are live example of their valves still in service after 40 years of operation.

THE BUSINESS – FLOWSTREAM

Flowstream International have manufactured and supplied industrial valves since 1842. They were the first all-British designed and manufactured process control valve.

Their established clientele includes BP, Shell, Esso (Exxon), ICI (Ineos), Corus, British Energy, Dunlop/Goodyear and Kodak.

IDENTIFYING OUR CANDIDATES

As always, we looked at our client’s direct competitors and similar businesses supplying in to similar clients and sectors.

We also used our ability to hunt outside of the box by targeting non industry specific companies that operate tangentially to Flowstream.

SIMPLY BRINGING THE RIGHT PEOPLE TOGETHER

In a nutshell, this is what we do. We identified a number of suitable candidates who fit both the role and the requirements of organisation as a whole. It was very rewarding for both the client and ourselves, that they found their ideal candidate within our shortlist and the headhunt was a success.
