    WARRANTY STATEMENT: MSD warrants this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship under its intended normal use*, when properly installed and purchased from an authorized MSD dealer, for a period of one year from the date of the original purchase.     Heavy Duty Relay anD ConneCtoR Need a heavy duty connector for a powerful solenoid? How about a high current relay to handle that solenoid? MSD has you covered with this quick connector designed to handle up to 50 amps. The one piece molded connector can be used with wiring up to 6-gauge. For those high current circuits, MSD now offers this heavy duty 65 amp relay, perfect for high performance fuel pumps and nitrous solenoids. Large copper terminals will provide solid contact and activation of nearly any circuit.

    atomiCtm tRansmission ContRolleR As vehicle electronic requirements continue to evolve, MSD is there as your source for integrated performance controls with its new Atomic Transmission Control Module (TCM)! The all-new MSD Transmission Controller was developed completely in-house evolving from the engineering expertise and proven performance of our Atomic EFI technology. In fact, the Atomic TCM is designed to integrate directly with the Atomic EFI so you can modify transmission operation parameters from the same handheld monitor! Doing away with the need for sensor duplication, and an extra programmer, means less wiring for easy installation and a clean appearance.

    Dont worry if you havent stepped up to an Atomic EFI system yet; the Trans Controller can also be used as a stand-alone system with most OEM or aftermarket fuel

    injection systems, as well as carbureted applications. Learn a lot more about the all new Atomic Transmission Controller on pages 30-31.

    atomiCtm eFi The MSD Atomic EFI systems for LS engines as well as the Throttle Body kits continue to grow with new applications and updates. For 2014, we now offer kits for several popular engine platforms including trucks as well as bracket and connector kits for the LS1/LS6 platform. An exciting development with the LS Atomic system is the integration of our new Transmission Control (see more on pages 30-31). Thanks to our new BrainWave communication networks, you can use the same Handheld Monitor to tune your EFI and Transmission parameters! The Atomic TBI system can now be used with power adders such as boost or nitrous. You can select a target air/fuel ratio value during times of boost or nitrous operation as well as incorporating timing control.     Power Grid Modules Racers will be excited to learn about two new Boost Controllers for the Power Grid Ignition System. The new Boost Controllers provide the ability to retard the timing in relation to boost as well as creating a boost pres-sure map for an entire run! Once you connect the Controller to the Power Grid network, the View software allows you to program boost pressures as you race down the track. Two versions are available; a 4-BAR (up to 43.5 psi) and a 6-BAR version (up to 75 psi). See pages 52-54 to learn more about the Power Grid Ignition System.

    Fuel Pressure reGulator Even though the Atomic EFI systems are designed for returnless fuel line operation, a lot of people still choose to run a return line and pres-sure regulator. MSDs all new Regulator, PN 2938, is built around a CNC-machined billet aluminum housing that features two -6AN outlet ports to ease installation and fuel line routing. The inlet is a also designed for a -6AN line and the versatile design covers a wide adjustment range from 20 psi to 90 psi. See more about the Atomic EFI systems on pages 18-26.

    You rely on MSD to fuel your engine with Atomic fuel control or to provide the fire with multiple sparks to produce the performance you ex-pect. Now you can ensure your engines getting the cleanest air possible with these new air filter kits. Two new chrome air cleaner assemblies are available: an Atomic or an MSD version. Both are 14 diameters with a drop base for hood clearance and are supplied with a 3-inch high flow paper element. See page 29 for more information.

    WHAT MSD CAN DO FOR YOU

    Factory ignition systems and their components are designed to be inexpensive to produce while providing adequate performance, at best. For the majority of drivers, adequate is tolerable, which leaves a lot of room for improvements. For anyone looking to improve their cars performance or driveability, an MSD should be at the top of their list of upgrades and this is where MSD comes in. An MSD Ignition uses capacitive discharge (CD) technology to produce a very high primary voltage. This high voltage is always present regardless if youre at an idle or racing down a straight away at 10,000 rpm. By introducing a powerful spark to the air/fuel mix-ture, the combustion event becomes much more efficient resulting in more downward force on the piston, resulting in improved overall performance. There are numerous variables that affect the quality of the combustion in the combustion chamber ranging from fuel, the condition of the spark plugs and wires, driving habits, air flow, temperatures, even the design of the head and intake manifold can work against complete combustion. When you consider all of these variables, it is easy to see that achieving complete combustion of the air/fuel mixture every time is unlikely. When you have a high energy spark from an MSD, you can be assured that the fuel mixture is going to be fully combusted to generate the most performance possible.

    The crown jewel of the Atomic EFI system is of course the throttle body itself. Our engineers have countless hours in designing the unit with great performance and appearance. The compact design is similar in size to a carburetor, yet contains an Electronic Control Unit, four injectors, the Idle Air Control solenoid, TPS, MAP, Intake Air Temperature (IAT) and more. Its easy to overlook all of the details so lets have a closer look

    ECU and SEnSorSYes, the ECU is integral to the throttle body! This unique design reduces wiring and keeps your EFI installation easier than ever. Better yet is that several sensors such as the TPS, MAP, IAT and fuel pres-sure are all incorporated into the ECU. In fact, the only sensors you need to connect are the coolant temp and the 02.

    IntErnal FUEl raIlNot only does the internal fuel rail present a sleek appearance, it removes fitting connections where leaks could develop. Also note that with a returnless fuel system, you can bring the fuel line up from the back or use the front fitting. Thats right, the Atomic is compatible with returnless fuel systems!

    MoUnt and BladES

    The Atomic throttle body bolts right in place of a standard square bore carburetor and accepts the same linkage as most carbs. The throttle inlets are 1.75 diameter and ride in precision roller bearings for smooth pedal transition.

    InjECtorSFuel delivery is provided by four precision 80-pound injectors. These injectors feature a stainless steel ball and seat metering method for maximum internal sealing. For a secure mount the injectors are sealed between the housing and the cast fuel rails.

    tPSTThe Atomics TPS is un-like any you have used before. It is an auto-matic, self-calibrating, non-contact sensor. That means you dont have to worry about configuring it during set up. Also, with no contact, there is nothing to wear out or replace.

    Power Controller and HandHeld Programmer

    This compact device handles the high power systems such as the electric fans and the fuel pump control. It simply plugs into the throttle body via MSDs CAN-Bus network with a single connection. The power runs to the electric fuel pump and there are two fan control wires allowing you to program what temperatures to activate the fans. Eliminating the need for an external fan controller. Atomics handheld programmer gets the system set for your particular engine in just a few easy clicks! This controller, combined with the Self-Learning technology from the internal ECU, eliminate the need for a laptop or user tuning. Simply push the joystick left, right, up, and down to move through the options. Within minutes the setup will be complete! Plus, the handheld will act as a dash to display all that is happen-ing in your new Atomic FI system!

    atomiC SuPPortS nitrouS and BooSt! Thats right, you can run nitrous with your Atomic Throttle Body! Setting up the Atomic for use with your favorite power adder is designed to be as simple as the initial programming. For nitrous fans, a wet system (one that supplies its own fuel to compensate for nitrous) must be incorporated. From the Atomic handheld monitor youll be able to program a target air/fuel ratio that will be used when the nitrous is activated. There is also a timing setting that will retard the timing during nitrous activation as well. For boosted applications, whether it be a blow through or draw through, the menu settings are similar. The throttle body incorporates a 2-bar MAP sensor and can manage up to 14-psi of boost. There is a value for a target air/fuel ratio during boost on the Handheld Monitor as well as a timing retard that is based off timing per pound of boost. An important aspect of using power adders with the Atomic TBI is to consider the fuel system as well as overall power levels. The injectors of the throttle body can support up to about 625 horsepower on naturally aspirated applications when used with the high horsepower fuel pump.

    timing Control The Atomic system does more than just fuel! When paired with an ignition control, like the MSD 6A, the Atomic unit can take over your ve-hicles timing advance. The handheld gives three simple options to set the timing including the total, initial and rate of advance. Its like the springs and bushings on a distributor, but with digital control.

    Dont fret about programming your Atomic EFI system as everything can be set right from the supplied Handheld Monitor. From the main menu you simply select from a few target settings, values and what engine youre working with.

    Power Module and HandHeld Monitor

    The LS platform incorporates a compact housing that is responsible for communication from the fuel rails to the fuel pump, fans, WB02 as well as other inputs for nitrous, AC Kick-up or the 2-step launch control rev limit. There is a main connector, a power connector as well as the Handheld Monitor connection. To program the Atomic LS, simply plug in the Handheld Monitor into the Power Modul e and toggle through the menu screens with the joystick. Scroll up and down through a few easy parameters and your engine will be running in to no time. The Handheld can be unplugged and stowed away, or leave it connected to view a list of items in real time as the engine runs! No PC, no software and no experience necessary. Its just that easy.

    ConneCtoRsHaving the ECU built into the fuel rails cuts down on miles of wiring. Each bank of the Atomic LS has only the connectors needed on each side of the engine. For instance, the coolant temperature connector is always on the drivers bank while the crankshaft position sensor is always on the passenger side. All sensors are wired with factory connectors to ease installation concerns.

    Fuel RailsThe foundation for the integrated fuel/electronic rails is a CNC machined aluminum fuel rail assem-bly. The inside diameter of the rails is equivalent to a -8AN line to provide plenty of fuel to feed engines up to 1000 horsepower. This includes engines with nitrous or forced induction as well.

    MSDs goal is make our Atomic EFI the simple solution for your LS EFI install. Each Atomic Master Kit is supplied with the Integrated Fuel Rails, brackets and hardware, Power Module, Handheld Monitor, WB02 Sensor Kit, Crossover fuel line, injector retainers, and harnesses. Four different Master Kits are available for your crate or donor engine:

    When you run an LS engine, performance begins with the introduction of air into the intake manifold. MSDs new 90mm LS Throttle Body answers the need for a high quality throttle body with a mechanical throttle mechanism that bolts to most factory and aftermarket intakes. MSD went through the time and expense to develop a cast throttle body assembly in order to achieve a unique parabolic bore form. This design helps deliver excellent drivability characteristics during part throttle that typical billet straight bore throttles just cant deliver. We incorporated factory style bearings and seals on the throttle blade to achieve a very robust design that can withstand temperature swings seen by street. The Atomic Throttle Body is supplied with a factory style TPS and Idle Air Control motor and fits most OE style intake manifolds.

Now you can ensure your engines getting the cleanest air possible with these new air filter kits. MSD offers two chrome air cleaner assemblies: one for Atomic TBI users and another for MSD fans. Both designs are based on 14-inch diameter, 3-inch tall filters and display the respective Atomic and MSD logos embossed to the show quality chrome cover. Hood clearance will be no issue as the base features a 3/4-inch drop base that fits a common 5 1/8-inch air horn. MSD even supplies a mounting stud and extra nice wing nut so you have everything youll need to finish off your MSD or Atomic equipped installation.

    Atomictm trAnsmission controller With the addition of the Atomic Fuel Injection Systems, high output DynaForce alternators, and heavy duty starters, MSD has proven itself to be much more than the leader in ignition technology. As vehicle electronic requirements continue to evolve, MSD is there as your source for integrated performance controls with its new Atomic Transmission Control Module (TCM)! The all-new MSD Transmission Controller was developed completely in-house evolving from the engineering expertise and proven performance of our Atomic EFI technology. In fact, the Atomic TCM is designed to integrate directly with the Atomic EFI when using Brainwave so you can modify transmission operation parameters from the same handheld monitor! Doing away with the need for sensor duplication, and an extra programmer, means less wiring for easy installation and a clean appearance. Dont worry if you havent stepped up to an Atomic EFI system yet; the Trans Controller is also offered as a stand-alone system to work with most OEM or aftermarket fuel injection systems, as well as carbureted applications equipped with a stand-alone Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).     The Atomic Transmission Control Module (TCM) shares the communication proto-col used in our Atomic EFI systems. The connectivity afforded by this technology allows seamless integration between the Atomic EFI system and the Atomic TCM. This means that the two systems com-municate and share sensor inputs and data. This not only improves perfor-mance, but it reduces sensor duplication and wiring complexity. As an example, the Atomic TCM will use the Atomic EFIs Throttle Position Sensor data while the EFI can use the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) data from the TCM. Better yet, only one Handheld Monitor is needed to configure both the EFI and the TCM! This results in a simple, clean, easy-to-use installation!

    ParameTer aDJUsTmenT

    The Atomic TCM allows simple parameter adjustment using the supplied Handheld Monitor. Thats right - no need to worry about a PC and complicated software. The Handheld connects to the Atomic TCM and can be left in place as a dash board to monitor the transmission in real-time, or disconnected once the configuration is complete*. Once installed and connected, you need only specify a few basic parameters that are listed in the Initial Setup menu. First and foremost, select the type of transmission you are using (such as a GM 4L60E or Ford 4R70W). All supported transmission types are listed in the menu to make this step easier. Other required fields under Initial Setup include the number of engine cylinders, rear end gear ratio (and transfer case ratio, if applicable), and tire height.

    Once the Initial Setup has been completed, you can start and drive the vehicle while taking advantage of the Advanced Setup menu items to dial-in the transmission to your liking. From the Advanced Setup menu, you can control shift points and characteristics like shift feel and torque converter clutch operation. There are also options allowing adjustment of the desired Wide Open Throttle (WOT) shifting, Vehicle Speed Sensor configuration, and more.
