CARBON FIBER was first used in the late 1800s by Thomas Edison in his efforts to craft an incandescent light bulb, but it wasn’t until 1958 when Roger Bacon invented a flexible graphite fabric that the modern tale of carbon fiber began to unfold.

Even then, the potential benefits of carbon fiber were clear. It weighed far less than steel, and yet had a much greater tensile strength. It was also found to be high modulus, which meant that it resisted stretching, and made it an ideal material for reinforcing rigid structures. It was no wonder then that its first major applications came in the aerospace and aviation industries.

WHEELCRITERIASAll Syncros wheels are handbuilt using proven, reliable components. Freehubs are Shimano 11-Speed ready and can be disassembled without tools for servicing. Our 1.0 Full Carbon Wheels are top-end clincher wheels with an excellent combination of nimble handling, aerodynamic gain and low weight.

AERODYNAMICS: Aerodynamics depend on rim profile and depth, as well as the form and type of nipples and spokes.We use a 46mm deep aero design with hidden nipples and bladed spokes, along with lighter weight rims with a shallower depth.

WEIGHT: This indicates the total weight of a complete front and rear wheel. Our Wheels are among the lightest in each category, without any compromises in durability or performance.

HANDLING: This indicator helps you to understand how stable, precise and agile a wheelset feels in different conditions, for example in cross winds.

REACTIVITY:How responsive and quick is the wheel in response to your change of pace on the pedals. Reactivity depends on the weight of the rim and of the wheel in its entirety, and on the torsional stiffness.
