Software:Catia V5 Student Edition (CV5SE) available from Brian directlyCurrent classes are using version 2015 (not 2017)In order to open your CV5SE models in class (& have them graded) you will need to be on the correct version.This software is large enough that it takes a long time to download.Brian has the 2015 software on a thumb drive that you can borrow.

Target ID Software: available on V5E web site.Run this software (tiger_new.exe) to obtain the Target ID number for your computer, which you submit to get your actual CV5SE license.

• Unfortunately the Dassault documentation is very difficult & doesn’t work.• Fortunately I have made it very simple.

What’s wrong:The Dassault documentation says you need several documents from your school.You don’t.It also has links to software downloads that don’t work and several other issues.

The actual process:1. Create a Dassault account

Go to the Dassault student website (3DS Academy)Although you can use any email you like, you will also need a school issued email to get the student software.So it is best if you use the school email to make your Dassault account.There is a Promo Code (CATIA4FREE17) on the site for free software.You will receive an email to activate your account.

2. Get Software:(easiest to get all this from Brian, not online)a) CATIA V5 Student Edition – version 2015 is what we use in classb) Target ID software

3. Obtain your computers Target ID numberRun the Target ID software to obtain that number for your computer. Dassault will need this to generate a license for you.

4. Login, Buy using your Promo code & it will ask you to:5. Submit your Target ID number to generate a license file.6. Receive license file as email attachment.7. Install CV5SE (but don’t open it yet)8. Install your License file

Run Nodelock Key Management (this is part of the CV5SE install)Import your license file

9. Done – Open CV5SE

1. Create a Dassault account

FYI: 3DS Academy is a very useful site with all kinds of student resources.

Promo CodeUsually CV5 SE is $99 but for awhile you can get it free with the promo code.

Later (in Step 4) you will come back here to Buy the software.Then it will ask for the Promo code.

2. Get Software

3. Obtain your computers Target ID number

Run the Target ID software (tiger_new.exe) and copy your number(example: QGC-437A14F64B6BE6DF).

Enter your Target ID number & Activate(you will receive an email with a license for that computer)

5. Submit your Target ID number

4. Login, Buy using your Promo code

If you are following along you should still be on the web page to “Buy”.Buy & enter your Promo code.

After this you will be directed to the downloads page (shown below) which also includes instructions.DON’T FOLLOW THOSE INSTRUCTIONS – FOLLOW MINE.

Email from Dassault:Now you will receive an email with your license as an attachment.Download it and put it on your desktop for easy access.

6. Receive license file as email attachment.

7. Install CV5SE (but don’t open it yet)

During install use all the defaults

Run setup.exe

Uncheck the box to Start CATIA(as I stated it will fail until you install your license file)Select Finish

CV5SE and all its Admin software is now installed

8. Install your License file

Run Nodelock Key Management

Select File >> Import

You will see your 1 year license

9. Done – Start CV5SE

Now you can open CV5
