Equipment and Systems Engineering Solutions

Electrical 3D Design and Documentation 1 (5693-EC1)

Electrical 3D Design and Documentation 1 provides themachinery and consumer goods industries with adedicated toolset for designing and documentingelectrical systems. Based on functional specificationsimported from schematic systems, the user can easilydefine the electrical system in the 3D digital mockup. From the mockup, the user can easily generate harnessmanufacturing documentation. This new end-to-endproduct enables the user to reduce the time and cost ofcreating electrical systems in the digital mockup, to avoidinterferences, and to create up-to-date manufacturingdocumentation. Integration with schematic data ensuresthat the physical 3D design is compliant with the electricalspecifications and allows the automatic computation ofwire length to start manufacturing without a physicalmockup and to generate correct harness diameters basedon the wire content of the bundle.

EC1 takes full advantage of integration within themechanical assembly, improving productivity by allowingusers to automatically update electrical wiring data.Accurate definition of the 3D electrical systems

guarantees that all installation constraints (such asclashes) are solved in the digital mockup, providing amajor productivity gain because there is no need for aphysical mockup.

All design changes made to the 3D harness areautomatically propagated in the documentation, savingtime when updating the documentation. Because it is fullyintegrated with CATIA V5′s 2D drafting capabilities, EC1allows users to generate a dedicated representation ofelectrical components in 2D.

The provided function level of integration betweenelectrical 3D design and documentation make EC1 theideal solution for the specific electrical designrequirements of the consumer goods and fabrication andassembly industries.

Key product functions include:

• Link with wiring schematics for design anddocumentation: Data can be exchanged with electricalwiring CAD systems using the XML data format. In thisway, customers can use electrical schematic diagramsthat are specific to their industry and location, ratherthan using generic electrical diagrams fromcompetitors that are not adapted to customer needs, such as a library of symbols.

• Reduce cycle time and increase quality for wireharness packaging and documentation: An optimalmanagement of design changes (components andwires) allows users to reduce cycle time and improvequality during the entire product and packagingdocumentation process. Engineering changes fromschematic data can be imported into the 3D designand then automatically transferred to thedocumentation.

• Deliver an integrated, end-to-end 3D wire harnesspackaging and documentation solution in a singleworkbench: With the workbench, users can defineelectrical component catalogs, create interfaces towiring schematics, create 3D harness routings, automatically compute wire lengths, and creategenerative and associative documentation.

• Provide a process-oriented solution for fabrication andassembly and consumer goods customers: Byallowing virtual definition and documentation ofelectrical systems, EC1 allows customers to reduce lifecycle management time and design and productioncosts. Users also benefit from CATIA V5′s ease oflearning and ease of use.

• Integration with Interactive Drafting 1 (ID1) andGenerative Drafting 1 (GD1) for documentationpurposes: Users can easily generate a dedicatedrepresentation of electrical components in 2D to takeadvantage of the complete integration of draftingcapabilities. Users can define and manage relevantwire annotations and dimensions to create full reportsfor documentation.

Enhanced products: Enhancements to a P1 product alsoapply to the corresponding P2 product.

Mechanical Design Solutions

CATIA — Assembly Design 1 (5693-AS1)

• General functions

− Move and fix together — This command allows theuser to move all parts that are fixed together withthe standard move commands. The system

determines the list of the parts that should bemoved.

− Open an assembly in visualization mode — Anoption is provided to notify the user if the productupdate status is not available. The option gives theuser the ability to specify whether or not adiagnostic of the update should be done. The usercan then easily determine if the assembly needs tobe updated without launching the entire update.

− New scenes integration — The user can create analternative view of a product (the state of a productwith specific positioning and graphical attributes) inwhich it is possible to create and edit applicativedata. The user can then perform an analysisrelative to a specific state of assembly. Thisenhancement improves performance and capacity.

• V5 Engineering Hub productivity — This releasedelivers optimal CATIA PLM usability for unmatchedcollaborative product development. The mainobjective is to enhance the CATIA product userinterface in the context of ENOVIA V5 VPM byproviding convenient interactive notification.Commands, such as those for assembly features, aredeactivated when working with a product in theexploded mode. Conditional behaviors are insertedas constraints for links inside a work package and forfix together operations.

• Copy-paste can be used to switch assemblies fromwork package mode to exploded mode.

• Reroute link on last document — A new Synchronizechoice in the Edit link command helps the user torevise a part. The user can select a reference in acatalog, and all the links will automatically be reroutedbased on the chosen reference. This process-orientedenhancement improves user productivity andaccelerates versioning. This is a VPM Navigatorco-requisite.

• Supplier relationship management (SRM) — A newcommand synthesizes an assembly as a single part.It provides an interactive command to create oneCATPart document from a specific product structurenode selected in an opened CATProduct. Thecommand captures all geometrical representationdetected in all activated nodes that are children of theselected node. Each geometrical representation foundis created in the CATPart as an isolated body. Thisnew command facilitates Supply Chain Management(SRM) and protects intellectual property whenexchanging data between companies. Companies canalso reduce their telecommunication costs becauseless bandwidth is required.

styling and engineering context. For instance, a user cancreate an associative shape, place welding points on it,and then assemble the two parts with unprecedentedrapidity. The manufacturability of the created body istaken into account, as well as the management ofpotential styling changes. ABT takes advantage of itstotal integration with the mechanical shape designproducts, the freestyle products, and the unique Body inWhite Fastening product (ABF).

This product is included in the CATIA — Automotive Bodyin White Design Configuration (5691-AB3).

CATIA — Body in White Templates 2:

• Delivers a dedicated body-in-white design productbased on highly productive, skilled features: ABTcloses a major productivity gap in the body-in-whitecommunity through the use of unique skilled features. This productivity comes from the fact that body inwhite engineers will find in ABT unique features thatthey will use many times per day. Some examples:

− Diabolo seat — Create support seats for certainfunctional parts.

− Junction — Join several surface sections (whetherisotopological or non-isotopological) with tangencymanagement. The ability to join surfaces in thisway is a major productivity innovation.

− Mating flange — Add a shape to a thin part.Typically, this shape is used as a contact zone withanother part within an assembly. The added shapecan be used to create welding points for assemblingthe two parts.

− Hole — Create a hole shape in a very productiveand user-friendly way. The hole feature is used toremove material from a body. Additionally, semantic recognition of holes means they can beused for tolerancing purposes with FunctionalTolerancing & Annotation 2 (FTA).

CATIA V5 general packaging principles

− A CATIA P1 product or a CATIA P1 configurationrequires or must include (in the case ofconfigurations) CATIA — Object Manager 1 (CO1).P1 products can be used on P2 or P3, and in suchcases, they operate with CATIA — ObjectManager 2 (COM) or CATIA — Object Manager 3(CO3), respectively.

− A CATIA P2 product or a CATIA P2 configurationrequires, or must include (in the case ofconfigurations), CATIA — Object Manager 2 (COM).P2 products can be used on P3, and in such cases, they operate with CATIA — Object Manager 3 (CO3).

− CATIA — COM 1 to 2 Extension (5693-C12) allowsall P2 products to be added on to P1 configurations. The C12 product effectively upgrades the P1infrastructure (CO1) to the P2 infrastructure (COM).The C12 product does not change the underlyingP1 configuration; included products remain P1. The

C12 product can be used as a shareable (5691-C12)or add-on (5693-C12) product.

− A CATIA P3 product or a CATIA P3 configurationrequires or must include (in the case ofconfigurations) CATIA — Object Manager 3 (CO3).P1, P2, and P3 shareable and add-on products areavailable to P3 configurations as shareable oradd-on products.

− Licenses for CATIA configurations are acquired andreleased for the total configuration.

− The functions within a configuration cannot beshared.

− A configuration is required for each CATIA V5 seat.

− CATIA V5 add-on (AOP) and shareable productsmay require prerequisite products that are notincluded in a standard purchased configuration. When a prerequisite product is not included in theselected standard configuration, both the AOP andits prerequisite products must be purchased andlicensed as AOPs within a custom configuration.Prerequisites for shareable products can besatisfied by a standard configuration, by an AOPwithin a custom configuration, or by a shareableproduct.

− CATIA — V4 Integration 2 (V4I) is included in all P2and P3 configurations, and CATIA — V4Integration 1 (V41) is included in all P1configurations.

Product-specific prerequisites for products announcedin this release

− CATIA — Cast & Forged Part Optimizer 2 (CFO)requires CATIA — Part Design 2 (PDG).

CATIA V5 system program order

CATIA V5 programs for all platforms (UNIX and MicrosoftWindows) are shipped under the 5628-ACN SystemProgram Order (SPO). The SPO is required for allprogram shipments and future updates.

Initial orders placed for a program type 5691 without acorresponding order or MES for the 5628-ACN SPO willeither fail order validation, or will not generate a mediashipment. The SPO is designated to the processor onwhich the program type 5691 is licensed. Each customernumber must have its own SPO.

Initial orders: When ordering the first 5691 configurationfor CATIA V5, an order must also be placed for the5628-ACN SPO. Both the 5691 program order and the SPOmust be for the same CPU system type/system numberand must have the same scheduled shipment date.

Subsequent licenses: The SPO must have a featurenumber for every CATIA V5 configuration that is installedor on-order. Therefore, when a configuration that was notpreviously installed is ordered, the SPO must be updated.

To update an on-order system: When a license for a new5691 program is ordered for an on-order system, the5628-ACN SPO must be updated to reflect the featurenumber of the licensed program desired. Also, for assetregistration and billing purposes an order for theindividual licensed program type 5691 is required.

To update an installed system: When a license for a new5691 program is ordered for an installed system, the5628-ACN SPO must be updated to reflect the featurenumber of the licensed program desired.

5628-ACN program feature numbers for new products:The following no-charge program feature numbers areused with the 5628-ACN System Program Order to showwhich configurations and products are installed. Thisinformation is used for shipment of media. The maximumquantity of each of the features that may be specified isone for each of the 5691 programs.

Terms and conditions

Agreement: IBM Customer Agreement (ICA)

Designated machine: Not required

Variable charges apply: No

Location license applies: No

Use limitation applies: Yes, as implemented by thelicensing mechanism described.

The licensing mechanism

CATIA V5 licensing on workstations: In workstationenvironments, CATIA controls the number of concurrentusers of a CATIA configuration or product, according tothe number of licenses acquired for the configuration orproduct.

CATIA V5 delivers identical licensing mechanisms onUNIX and Windows environments, based on IBM LicenseUse Management (LUM). The following licensingprinciples apply:

• A CATIA V5 configuration (standard or custom) willrequire a license. Licenses for CATIA V5configurations are acquired and released for the totalconfiguration. The products within a configurationcannot be shared.

-39- 204-036

Page 44: CATIA V5.13 makes Product Lifecycle Management user · PDF fileCATIA V5.13 makes Product ... drawing from ENOVIA V5. Collaborative workspaces CATIA V5.13 fosters ... requirements and

• CATIA V5 shareable products will require a license, inaddition to one for the prerequisite configuration andany prerequisite product, if applicable.

• In all cases, configuration licenses are acquired at thebeginning of the process and are released at itstermination.

• Shareable product licenses may be acquired at thebeginning of the process and released at itstermination, or upon user request, acquired andreleased during the process (ability to acquire andrelease licenses is not available for configurationlicenses). Shareable licenses acquired at thebeginning of the session cannot be released before theend of the session; only licenses dynamically grantedupon user request during the session can be releasedduring the session.

• CATIA V5 add-on (AOP) and shareable products mayrequire prerequisite products that are not included ina standard purchased configuration. When aprerequisite product is not included in the selectedstandard configuration, both the AOP and itsprerequisite products must be purchased and licensedas AOPs within a custom configuration. Prerequisitesfor shareable products can be satisfied by a standardconfiguration, by an AOP within a customconfiguration, or by a shareable product.

CATIA V5 can be used in three licensing modes: nodelock, with concurrent usage of licenses on a network, orconcurrent offline licensing.

Nodelock usage: The use of a local display of thehardware configuration is mandatory for CATIA V5 usagein nodelock mode. There is no limit to the number ofCATIA V5 processes launched for a given license(configuration or product). For instance, a user canlaunch the following simultaneous processes:

• A V5 interactive session• A V5 process executed through an OLE container

application• Replay of macros recorded from captured sequences

of V5 user interactions

In nodelock mode of operation, only one CATIA licenseper configuration and product can be registered bymachine, and only one CATIA user can run at a time. Ifmultiple licenses per configuration or product, or multipleusers, are required, refer to the Concurrent Usagesection.

Concurrent usage: A user on one machine on one displayuses one license per configuration or product used, regardless of the number of processes. If the displaychanges, then an additional license is taken for thecorresponding process.

CATIA add-on and shareable products require a licensefor a configuration which includes at least the prerequisiteproducts.

Licenses for CATIA configurations are acquired andreleased for the total configuration. The functions withina configuration cannot be shared.

Dynamic li censing: Shareable product licenses may beacquired at the beginning of the session and released atits termination or, upon user request, acquired andreleased during the session. (The ability to acquire andrelease licenses is not available for configurationlicenses.) Shareable licenses acquired at the beginningof the session cannot be released before the end of thesession; only licenses dynamically granted upon user

request during the session can be released during thesession.

Concurrent offline licensing: Beginning with this release,a new concurrent license control technique is availablevia the LUM server. It gives CATIA, ENOVIA DMU,DELMIA, and RADE applications running on a Windowslaptop the ability to disconnect from the license server fora specific period of time so that users can take advantageof the full license capability while mobile. During thecheckout period, the license is unavailable for use byanother concurrent user. This feature is designed to addadditional flexibility to a user′s work environment. It isoffered to accommodate short-term travel needs andcollaboration while away from a fixed office environmentor server connection. All ICA terms and conditions, including Cross-Border licensing terms are unchanged, and users will check-out and check-in licenses at theirhome server, where rules and procedures are controlledby LUM.

Note to users of the following SMARTEAM-branded CATIAintegration products:

• CATIA Team PDM Configuration (TDM)• SMARTEAM — CATIA Integration Product (CAI)• CATIA — Xtended Team PDM Configuration (TDX)• CATIA — Xtended Integration Product (CIX)

These and other SMARTEAM products do not supportdynamic licensing or concurrent offline licensing. Therefore, dynamically releasing a CATIA key will notrelease any SMARTEAM integration product key that mayhave been checked out at the same time, and theseintegrations cannot be used with offline-type LUMcertificates.
