In 2018, St Mary’s is introducing the Charismata Cajon Ensemble for boys in grades 6-9. Cajon Drumming is becoming increasingly popular worldwide and can be done anywhere! The Cajon is very portable and versatile. The word Charismata refers to the spiritual gifts given to each one of us. The word Cajon literally means box or drawer. Charismata Expectations: The ensemble will commence rehearsal in Week 3 of Term 1 in 2018. The ensemble will rehearse once a week during first break on Wednesday. Extra rehearsals may be scheduled for first break on Thursday to prepare for performance and competition. Any variations in rehearsal schedule will be notified in advance. All drummers are requested to attend every rehearsal for the ensemble's benefit and their own skill advancement. The school has 12 cajon’s that students can use during these rehearsal times. If you are interested in purchasing a cajon for your child, to enable home practice please contact me. I can provide you with the details of the school’s supplier. Please discuss the Ensemble expectations with your child and ensure that your child can commit to rehearsal expectations. Rehearsal times: Wednesday First Break: 10:45-11:15 Thursday First Break: 10:45-11:15 (End term 2 beginning term 3 only for Eisteddfod).
