Power point by Alex Burton
POEMI go to the mountain side
of the house to cut saplings,
and clear a view to snow
on the mountain. But when I look up,
saw in hand, I see a nest clutched in
the uppermost branches.
I don’t cut that one.
I don’t cut the others either.
Suddenly, in every tree,
an unseen nest
where a mountain
would be.
• In the form of 1 stanza• Twelve lines (fit to screen)• Is about her live when she
lived in the mountains and they chopped trees down

Imagery
These two are imagery because they show what the things it says
looks like and goes into detail
Rhythm
This is all rhythm because it take a lot of words to get a constant flow
I go to the mountain sideof the house to cut
saplings, and clear a view to snow
on the mountain. But when I look up,
saw in hand, I see a nest clutched in
the uppermost branches.

Imagery
Rhyme
• This is the only time that the author rhymed and this is gives the effect of rhythm also
Repetition
• This shows that she realizes that she should not cut down the trees for sure
I don’t cut that one.I don’t cut the others either.
Suddenly, in every tree,
an unseen nestwhere a mountain
would be.

POETIC
TERMS
MetaphorIt is at the middle where it says but when I look up, saw in hand.
This is a metaphor because it says saw in hand. The nest where still in the trees so not in hands.
HyperboleAt the end where it says where a mountain should be.
This is exaggerating because the mountain is still there.
I go to the mountain side
of the house to cut saplings,
and clear a view to snow
on the mountain. But when I look up,
saw in hand, I see a nest clutched in
the uppermost branches.
I don’t cut that one.
I don’t cut the others either.
Suddenly, in every tree,
an unseen nest
where a mountain
would be.
POETIC
TERMS
Cynghanedd• This is just a basic
sense of sound-concept within one line.
• This is the last line it shows this with the rhythm and rhyme.
Volta• This when there is a
sudden change in words that changes emotion.
• This is when it says suddenly, in every tree. This changes the emotion and view very quickly.
I go to the mountain side
of the house to cut saplings,
and clear a view to snow
on the mountain. But when I look up,
saw in hand, I see a nest clutched in
the uppermost branches.
I don’t cut that one.

THEME
The them is “things seem more important than what they seem” I get this because as soon as the speaker sees the nest she does not cut the trees. And at the end it says “an unseen nest where a mountain should be” this shows that the speaker regrets cutting down all the other trees.
