Catholic Home Missions Appeal Strengthening the Church at Home

This week, we will take up the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Right now, over 40 percent of dioceses in the US are

considered home missions because they are unable to fund essential pastoral work needed in their communities.

Your support of this appeal helps ease the struggle of these dioceses. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this

appeal. More information can be found at www.usccb.org/home-missions.

St. Francis of Assisi’s

Blessing of the Animals

All eyes were focused on those among us who are furred, feathered, clawed, winged, or finned -our animal companions! As part of our celebration of the life of St. Francis of Assisi, we host our own “Blessing of the Animals” in his name and on his Feast Day, October 4.

Legendary for his compassion, the Patron Saint of animals (and merchants and Ecology) is often described has having the ability to talk with animals.

Father Korpi offered the blessing and led the children

in prayer. While many children were holding their pets for the blessing, others

held photos, or stuffed animals, in lieu of the actual

pet.
