Asset Integrity Management in an Age of Uncertainty
CALL FOR PAPERS
SPE INTERNATIONAL
Oilfield Corrosion CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION18 – 19 June 2018 | Aberdeen, UK | www.spe.org/go/18ofcs
Dear Colleague,
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the 2018 Oilfi eld Corrosion Programme Committee would like to invite you to submit your paper proposals for the eighth SPE International Oilfi eld Corrosion Conference and Exhibition, which will take place on 18-19 June in Aberdeen.
Despite tentative signs of recovery, the Oil & Gas industry continues to undergo a painful adjustment to tough economic conditions, as companies look to consolidate and build upon the cost effi ciency gains that followed the collapse of the oil price. While producing assets and life extension projects will continue to provide operational and maintenance opportunities, the business has also seen an unprecedented number of mergers and acquisitions, with companies readjusting to an unpredictable market and aligning their complementary products and services to off er a more integrated and broader portfolio of solutions that increase innovation, improve execution and reduce costs. At the same time, decommissioning activities have shown exceptional growth and are forecast to accelerate further in the future.
The wide spectrum of requirements for eff ective corrosion management throughout an asset’s lifecycle presents both familiar and new challenges to be addressed. To this end, the 2018 theme for the conference is Asset Integrity Management in an Age of Uncertainty. The committee invites technical papers around this theme from industry professionals and academics worldwide.
Following the success of the 2012, 2014 and 2016 events, the conference format will off er a combination of formal paper presentations and workshops. The morning sessions will allow for the presentation of new projects, technologies, challenges, and issues, while the afternoon discussion sessions will give attendees the opportunity to debate and review a range of key industry topics.
The event programme will allow for ample meeting and networking opportunities for all participants, including at the offi cial conference dinner and the exhibition, which will be open on all conference days. Attendees typically include academics and industry experts, as well as professionals in operator and service companies.
During the conference, poster sessions will support the presentation of research work and technical project summaries, aimed in particular at graduate and postgraduate activities and junior industry professionals. Posters will be judged during the conference, with the best one being awarded the poster prize during the wrap-up session. SPE is also pleased to be able to off er corrosion management training courses in conjunction with the conference.
The committee cordially invites you to the 2018 SPE International Conference and Exhibition on Oilfi eld Corrosion and looks forward to seeing you in Aberdeen.

PAPER PROPOSAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 11 October 2017
If you have any questions about the submission process, please contactAnnie Nagem at [email protected] or +44 207 299 3300.
General Guidelines1. Obtain clearance from your management. 2. The paper proposal must be a minimum of 225 words and no more than 350 words in length. Include a description of the proposed paper, results/conclusions, and the technical category applicable to your paper. 3. The proposal must be received by 11 October 2017. 4. Submit your paper online at www.spe.org/go/18OFCS.
5. Do not include the title or author names in the body of the abstract. The title and author information will be requested separately through the submission. 6. Do not include tables, figures, bibliographic lists, or sub-scripts in your abstract. They can be uploaded separately. 7. Please note that, if accepted, your paper proposal may be published, as submitted, in conference information media, including on the SPE website. 8. Authors whose paper proposals are accepted will be required to provide a manuscript for inclusion in the conference proceedings. Authors who do not submit a manuscript and the associated publication forms by the manuscript due date will be withdrawn from the programme and will not be allowed to present. Manuscripts will be due to SPE no later than 2 April 2018. 9. Please note: If you are interested in having a technical paper published without presenting at a conference, you should submit the paper as an unsolicited manuscript. For more details, please visit www.spe.org.
Changes, Cancellations, and Withdrawals SPE and the Programme Committee consider an accepted abstract a commitment to present. If extenuating circumstances prevent the author from making the presentation, it is that author’s obligation to find an alternate presenter and notify their SPE Programme Lead and their session chair(s), if applicable. Withdrawals must be made in writing to the SPE office as soon as possible. Under no circumstances can a submitted abstract be changed once it has been submitted. Cancellations, particularly after a paper has been accepted and publicised, are viewed by the Programme Committee as highly unprofessional.
Commercialism
SPE has a stated policy against use of commercial trade names, company logos, or text that is commercial in tone, in the paper title, text, or slides. Use of such terms will result in careful scrutiny by the Programme Committee in evaluating abstracts, and the presence of commercialism in the paper may result in it being withdrawn from the programme.
Copyright All authors of papers presented at the conference will be required to complete and submit a copyright release form to SPE or submit the copyright exemption form where applicable.
