• - Knowledge (textbooks, newspapers,..)• - Events (fiction, cartoons,..)• - Participation (study- and occupational services)
1. What are we aiming for?
• Attracting users (the more the better)• A number of varied titles and services (meet the users
expectations)• Anywhere, anytime, any mode• - Braille (very classic, very few)• - CD (classic, but strong)• - Download (maturity)• - Streaming (gazelle of the future?)• - Synthetic speech (more, faster, cheaper and
immature)

• Vision impaired persons: • - over the last 30 years: strong downturn in
number of blind persons that completes an education beyond basic general education
• - decline between 12 and 30 percentage points, dependent of level of education
• Labour participation ratio, handicapped: 47 pct, non handicapped: 78 pct.

institutions and businesses)• Passivity! How do we overcome the ”non-reading-
